Buyback makes sense at this low price. I am expecting a dividend when share price is higher. $98m cash, no debt. Happy days.

World Quant

And there`s me thinking that under Bermudan Company Law buybacks are not allowed during takeover negotiations.

What say you?

I think they want this share price a lot higher.10m spent in 6 weeks or less is pretty aggressive!Last time they started with 15m over 5 months......and the share price was a lot higher then.

Hopefully that will see the end of the constant forcing down of the share price as any attempt will be met by GKP buys.

#gkp #gkptakeover F11 I expected a friendly deal had been cooked. This looks like we are taking on a hostile buyer.Large short position still in place of about 2 m shares. This buyback is aggressive from @Gulf_Keystone I like it ?

Yes I expected friendly.JB agree I think we have hostile interest The impact of this buyback given such an illiquid stock plus a large short holder could be very very substantial.Obvs gkp board know that.Summats up

It's interesting that in the FYR announcement of 21st March we were told this:-

"Subject to local sales demand and considering our limited capital programme, gross production potential is currently between 43,000 - 45,000 bopd."

But we are now producing 48,300 bpd.

So they've been carrying out well maintenance and/or bringing another well onstream to meet demand as required.

And if they connect Sh-18 up they can produce up to 60kbpd to satisfy that demand should the need arise.
