Iraq Mohammed Shia al-Sudani US Visit Safeen Dizayee APIKUR
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani embarked on a journey from Baghdad to the United States, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising government officials, members of parliament, and representatives from the private sector, his office announced in a statement.

Prime Minister Sudani's visit to the United States comes at the official invitation of US President Joe Biden, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Foreign Relations Office of the Kurdistan Regional Government, is among the members of the delegation, underscoring the importance of Kurdish interests in the discussions.

During the visit, several pressing matters will be on the agenda, including the status of US military presence in Iraq and the role of the international coalition in combating terrorism.

Moreover, discussions are expected to revolve around the export of oil from the Kurdistan Region to global markets, a pivotal topic for both Iraqi and Kurdish authorities.

"The upcoming meeting between President Biden and Prime Minister Sudani presents a crucial opportunity to reach agreements on oil production and exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline, thereby eliminating a significant obstacle to foreign direct investment in Iraq," stated the Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan (APIKUR) on its official website.

The statement further emphasized the commitment of APIKUR member companies to their contracts with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Natural Resources, emphasizing the importance of mutually beneficial agreements for the immediate reopening of the pipeline.

Myles B. Caggins III, spokesman for APIKUR, stressed the importance of a robust oil and gas sector in attracting foreign investment, benefiting all Iraqi citizens and removing barriers to investment in both Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The upcoming discussions between Iraqi and US officials hold the promise of addressing key issues and fostering greater cooperation between the two nations for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.

Iraq Mohammed Shia al-Sudani US Visit
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Ahead of his departure for the United States, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the significance of his visit amidst a complex regional landscape marked by escalating tensions and atrocities against the Palestinian people.

He also underscored the growing danger in escalation within the Middle East region.

Stating that the timing of the visit is crucial given the current situation in the region, Prime Minister Sudani underlined the need to elevate Iraqi-American relations to a new level within the framework of activating the principles outlined in the strategic agreement. He emphasized that this aligns with the government's agenda for economic and financial reforms.

During his visit, Sudani intends to engage in discussions with US President Joe Biden on regional dynamics and tensions, with a focus on collaborative efforts to de-escalate conflicts and maintain global stability.

Additionally, talks between Sudani and Biden will include deliberations on the joint efforts of the Iraqi High Military Committee and the international coalition, aimed at establishing a timeline for concluding the coalition's mission.

Sudani revealed plans for private meetings with key US officials, including the Secretary of Defense, Treasury, National Security Advisor, as well as representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce and senior executives from oil and industry companies.

"This visit underscores our commitment to a sustained strategic partnership based on mutual respect and the safeguarding of Iraqi territory's security and sovereignty," Sudani remarked.

Accompanied by a delegation comprising government ministers, parliamentarians, advisors, and representatives from the private sector, Sudani expressed intentions to discuss cooperation in various sectors such as education, security, and beyond.

Furthermore, Sudani announced that the visit will feature the inaugural meeting of the Joint High Committee for Coordination, aimed at activating strategic agreements across multiple domains including energy, finance, banking, transportation, anti-corruption efforts, and repatriation of Iraqi assets abroad.

The forthcoming discussions between Iraqi and US officials hold promise for advancing bilateral cooperation and addressing regional challenges in a collaborative manner.

In this oil Grand National I will back Sudani to come up with promises that look good, sound good and benefit all parties in the coming days.

There will be rejoicing but underneath the rresult will see the Kurds being screwed again. Perhaps it`s all designed to make GKP as cheap as chips so that Quant`s GKP T/O can be at a rock bottom price.

I`ll eat humble pie if it results in our receiving ( actual ( payments not promises) the monies owed for past oil sales and Baghdad agreeing to cover our lifting and shifting costs. The reality and detail will be with APIKUR. Will they applaud the Grand National Sudani Plan and and its implementation?

Hi mmt, well done for getting a response and especially one saying they're putting someone up to answer questions.

A few days ago you yourself asked the question that everyone here would like answered:-

"Lets see if they do know of anything in regard to the second pipeline.."

An answer to that would be great.

And something we were never told about is this:-

"The drilling of SH-18 was recently completed and the well is now being hooked-up. We expect the well to be available for start-up in Q2 2023."

What was the output of that well. When it is hooked up how much will it add to the 55kbpd that we were producing last March.

Thanks.

Didn’t know this.
Last paragraph interesting.

Despite recent imports of over 500,000 barrels per day of crude oil from Iraq by the United States in March 2024, none of this oil originated from the Kurdistan Region. This discrepancy underscores the significance of finding a resolution to the impasse, especially considering the direct investment of $300 million by the U.S. Government for the development of KRG’s oil and gas sector.

Kurdistan APIKUR US Visit Iraq-Turkey Pipeline Resumption of Oil Exports
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) — The imminent White House meeting between Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani and the US President Joe Biden on April 15 has sparked optimism among stakeholders regarding the future of oil production and exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline (ITP).

APIKUR, an association representing numerous oil companies operating in the Kurdistan Region, sees the meeting as a pivotal moment to break the deadlock hindering pipeline exports from the Kurdistan Region.

"APIKUR member companies are eager to immediately reach a mutually beneficial resolution between the Government of Iraq, Kurdistan Regional Government, and International Oil Companies to restore exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline," stated Myles B. Caggins III, spokesperson for APIKUR.

The impasse over the ITP stems from a ruling by the International Chamber of Commerce over a year ago, resulting in the halt of oil exports. Despite Turkey expressing readiness to resume exports, the pipeline remains closed, causing significant losses in export revenues for Iraq and missed opportunities for economic growth.

According to APIKUR, the lack of agreement has cost Iraq more than $14.5 billion in lost export revenues and has deprived the region of substantial employment and investment prospects.

In hopes of finding a resolution, representatives from the Government of Iraq, Kurdistan Regional Government, and International Oil Companies, including APIKUR members, convened in Baghdad on January 7-9, 2024. While no formal proposals have been tabled since then, APIKUR remains open to further discussions.

The upcoming meeting at the White House is seen as a chance to inject urgency into the negotiations and to galvanize all stakeholders towards a swift resolution. APIKUR emphasizes the importance of restoring exports through the ITP for the stability and prosperity of the Kurdistan Region's as well as Iraq’s oil and gas sector, which in turn will attract much-needed foreign investment.

"Given the strategic importance of the US as Iraq's primary ally, there is a national interest in consolidating ties."

An interesting statement, "Given the strategic importance of the US as Iraq's primary ally", not sure what Iran and their stooges in Baghdad will make of it.

Shafaq News - "Iraqi PM embarks on official visit to Washington, D.C., first since assuming office.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has left Baghdad heading to the United States, leading a delegation of government officials, members of parliament, and representatives from the private sector, as stated by his media office."

(US seeks to resolve Baghdad-Erbil disputes, expel Iran from Iraq - The New Region: Apr. 12, 2024)

"The United States wields considerable sway over the Iraqi economy through its control of Iraqi oil sales. Funds are deposited into an account at the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, with current holdings surpassing $100 billion. This influx follows improved oil prices in the global market, driven in part by Russia-Ukraine and Gaza-Israel conflicts...

...According to sources, discussions between Iraq and the United States will encompass oil-related issues between Erbil and Baghdad, with Baghdad being urged to hasten the resolution of disputes and fulfill the financial obligations owed to American oil companies operating in the region.

In the Kurdistan Region, over 18 American companies are active across various sectors, including energy."

Deep Dive: Iraq’s prime minister embarks on first visit to DC

(Amwaj.media: Apr. 12, 2024)

Kurdish oil exports
-------------------
"Ahead of Sudani’s arrival, diplomatic maneuvering to guarantee Kurdish energy security has intensified. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s visit to Washington in early March involved pressure on the White House to convince Sudani to resume oil exports through northern Iraq...

...The Biden-Sudani meeting thus comes amid mounting anticipation about the efficacy of US efforts to secure Baghdad’s consent to reopening the pipeline. From the perspective of the White House, the pipeline is an energy asset that can increase global oil supply and stabilize a Kurdistan region that it seeks to support as a reliable partner..."
