Presidents Day in the US today so markets are shut and above WTI price is a bit high wide and handsome. As with last week it is Russia/Ukraine on the one side and the US/Iran talks on the other. With regard to the former there are talks of talks or even a summit and in the latter apparently a deal might come this week with a ‘gradual framework’ for return of Iranian oil in the package. A gradual return, if you believe that you will believe anything…

Equity futures for Japan, Australia and Hong Kong slid following a retreat in European shares, while havens including Australian and New Zealand bonds, the yen and the Swiss franc rose. Oil surged as traders weighed the risk of disruptions to supplies of energy and other commodities if the situation escalates. Gold was near $1,906 an ounce.

Baghdad look to be very serious this time as regards ruling the PSC's to be "unconstitutional and thus nullified". Goodbye to the PSC's as Baghdad want AMSC's to replace them?

That of course will mean tons of renegotiating the terms and conditions. Uncertaintity will be the order and we all know what uncertaintity does to share prices.

The decision appears to have a great deal of support and not unsurprisingly from Kurds that say the current law is one through which political families monopolise all basic resources. Quite a statement from the Kurds.

I would expect there will be tons of shares coming onto the market now.

I wonder how the Insti's will view that. Will they be dumping big time?

I reckon Kozel's Xom's "mull" all those years ago can now be accepted as fake news.

If he was prepared to "mislead" the US tax authorities knowing the dire consequencies if discovered isn't it reasonable to think that he could have done the same with shareholders?

Afterall, his share sales were kept extremely quiet for some time after. He obviously felt selling them "under the radar" was a risk worth taking. Isn't that something that contravines the Stock Exchange's rules?
