Fossil fuel firms sue governments across the world for £13bn as climate policies threaten profits

Fossil fuel companies are suing governments across the world for more than $18bn (£13bn) after action against climate change has threatened their profits, according to research conducted by campaign group Global Justice Now and provided exclusively to Sky News.
Five energy companies, including British companies Rockhopper and Ascent, are using a legal process that allows commercial entities to sue governments under international laws governing trade agreements and treaties.
These corporate arbitration courts operate outside of a country's domestic legal system.
According to Global Justice Now, which has collated publicly available information, five of the largest lawsuits under way are being brought by TC Energy, RWE, Uniper, Rockhopper and Ascent Resources.
The $18bn they are collectively suing for is almost a quarter of the entire climate funding provided by developed nations for developing ones, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development's (OECD) most recent assessment

French President Emmanuel Macron’s impending visit to Iraq is raising expectations that TotalEnergies could be close to finalizing a multi-billion-dollar energy deal it has been negotiating since April.

"We have secured the terms and the reference on the contract. We've agreed with Total on the economic model," said Iraqi Oil Minister Ihsan Ismaael, in a July interview with Iraq Oil Report, expressing optimism that the final signing "should happen before September."

Shell. Van Lanschot on register and Jaap Huskhies ex Shell project engineer, looking after Shaiken temporarily.

That’s some consortium.

GKP has already retested 200p + after a 52 week high at 202.5p and it is now a bull flag breakout targeting 300p, looking highly likely too with:-

1) Peel Hunt setting a GKP BUY target of 275p per share on 11/6.

2) GKP MACD has now turned upwards on the GKP chart after the 2nd GKP Special Dividend was paid out on 6/8.

3) There will be increased institutional & PI buying pressure to buy in & qualify for the Interim Dividend of 16.75p in just 1 weeks time by 23/9 (T+1) before the record date cut off of 24/9.

4). Shaikan 13 well has been in progress ahead of schedule & the drill results are due any day now, taking GKP Shaikan BOPD production UP from its 2021 production guidance range of 42,000 - 44,000 BOPD.

5). Drilling of SH-14 underway with completion and hook-up expected in Q4 2021 as part of 55000 BOPD expansion programme.

6). Completed debottlenecking of PF-2, increasing total field processing capacity to c.57,500 BOPD.

7). Continuous drilling & planning to spud SH-G in Q4 2021, after completion of SH-14. SH-G is expected to commence production in Q1 2022

8). Continuing to work closely with the MNR and partner on the preparation of the Shaikan FDP and expect to submit the FDP to the MNR in Q4 2021 for approval.

9). GKP about to imminently launch a 10 percent share buyback of 21.3 MILLION shares & then retire them.
