The public disclosure that they were finally submitting the new FDP signalled the sale is also agreed. The MNR will definitely require at least 1 heavy oil specialist IOC probably a consortium, to properly develop the field.Their names and financial muscle will be on the FDP.So we will get that news shortly.Anybody now selling 1 requires a psychiatrist. As do several avatars here.

GKP has already retested 200p + after a 52 week high at 202.5p and it is now a bull flag breakout targeting 300p, looking highly likely too with:-

1) Peel Hunt setting a GKP BUY target of 275p per share on 11/6.

2) GKP MACD has now turned upwards on the GKP chart after the 2nd GKP Special Dividend was paid out on 6/8.

3) There will be increased institutional & PI buying pressure to buy in & qualify for the Interim Dividend of 16.75p in just 1 weeks time by 23/9 (T+1) before the record date cut off of 24/9.

4). Shaikan 13 well has been in progress ahead of schedule & the drill results are due any day now, taking GKP Shaikan BOPD production UP from its 2021 production guidance range of 42,000 - 44,000 BOPD.

5). Drilling of SH-14 underway with completion and hook-up expected in Q4 2021 as part of 55000 BOPD expansion programme.

6). Completed debottlenecking of PF-2, increasing total field processing capacity to c.57,500 BOPD.

7). Continuous drilling & planning to spud SH-G in Q4 2021, after completion of SH-14. SH-G is expected to commence production in Q1 2022

8). Continuing to work closely with the MNR and partner on the preparation of the Shaikan FDP and expect to submit the FDP to the MNR in Q4 2021 for approval.

9). GKP about to imminently launch a 10 percent share buyback of 21.3 MILLION shares & then retire them.

Miss in, miss out ;-)

China Oil Majors Reportedly Eyeing Gulf Keystone's Flagship Kurdistan Asset
Intraday Gulf Keystone Petroleum Chart

Dow Jones News

By Philip Waller

Chinese oil majors appear to be casting a fresh eye over Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd.'s (GKP.LN) flagship oil asset in Kurdistan, according to a copy of a report seen by Dow Jones Newswires

Experts from the China National Petroleum Corp. and China National Offshore Oil Corp. (0883.HK) have carried out a technical study of rock formations at Gulf Keystone's Shaikan field in the semi-autonomous region of Iraq, according to a report on the study.

Shaikan has been described as a "world-class oil field" with a current production capacity of 40,000 barrels of oil a day, though London-listed Gulf Keystone plans to increase this to 55,000 barrels in the next year or so and eventually to 110,000 barrels.

The report, based on a presentation made to an industry conference in Bahrain earlier this year, cites six authors from CNPC and CNOOC or research organizations attached to them.

The latter includes the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development, which is the research-and-development center of CNPC and PetroChina Co. (601857.SH).

The report says the carbonate reservoirs in the regional land basin housing Shaikan and about 29 other oil fields are "extremely rich in oil-and-gas resources."

The report also appears to question a threshold used in a previous assessment of reserves at Shaikan to determine the level of rock porosity at which oil recovery would be viable, saying it is too high.

A spokesman for Gulf Keystone declined to comment on the study and the Chinese authors didn't respond to an emailed request for comment.

The report is the latest indication of wider industry interest in the field, which London-listed Gulf Keystone discovered in 2009.

In December 2016, a Bloomberg report said that another Chinese oil major, Sinopec, had approached Gulf Keystone.

In July 2014, sector bankers and analysts reportedly said that Sinopec, CNPC and U.S. majors Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) and Chevron Corp. (CVX) had "shown interest" in Gulf Keystone.

And in December 2011, interest by Sinopec was reported and Gulf Keystone subsequently went with advisers to China in March 2012.

Meanwhile, Gulf Keystone said this week that it received a $21.2 million net monthly payment for oil from the Kurdistan Regional Government in September.

Atrush Exceeds 50m Barrels Production

16th September 2021 in Iraq Oil & Gas News
By John Lee.

ShaMaran Petroleum has announce that the Atrush block in Iraqi Kurdistan has surpassed the cumulative oil production milestone of 50 million barrels since its first oil in July 2017.

Dr. Adel Chaouch, President and Chief Executive Officer of ShaMaran, commented:

"This significant operational achievement is noteworthy as the production milestone has been achieved notwithstanding 2020's significantly reduced development program due to the global pandemic and collapse of world crude oil prices.

"This demonstrates that the Atrush joint venture has the ability to successfully navigate through the Kurdistan oil industry's difficult as well as good times."

Crude Oil Futures: Upside momentum poised to continue

Crude Oil Futures: Upside momentum poised to continue
CME Group’s advanced readings for crude oil futures markets noted traders added around 20.4K contracts to their open interest positions on Wednesday, reaching the second consecutive daily build. Volume followed suit and rose for the third session in a row, now by nearly 260K contracts, the largest single-day build since August 6.

WTI now looks to $74.00/bbl
Prices of the WTI posted strong gains on Wednesday and extended the recent breakout of the key $70.00 mark per barrel. The move was accompanied by rising open interest and volume, allowing for the continuation of the current uptrend with the immediate target at the $74.00 mark and above in the short-term horizon.

Brent Oil to surpass the $76.38/77.84 zone – Credit Suisse

September 15, 2021 10:27 GMT | By FXStreet Insights Team
Brent Oil to surpass the $76.38/77.84 zone – Credit Suisse
Brent Crude Oil is pushing above its downtrend from July at $73.69/85 after its earlier successful hold of its 200-day moving average (DMA) at $65.78. The black gold could surge above the $76.38/77.84 region, according to strategists at Credit Suisse.

200-DMA support at $65.78 to stay a solid floor
“Brent Crude Oil extends its recovery after its recent successful hold of its key 200-DMA support at $65.78, and our bias remains for this to stay a solid floor.”

“A weekly close above $73.69/85 would see the downtrend from July broken, and recent highs cleared to add weight to our view that a floor is in place for a move back to the top of the range at $76.38/77.84 and higher in due course.”

“Below the 200-DMA and then the May/August lows at $64.60/57 would instead warn of a significant medium-term top.”
