Using the current CPR on a Category 2 basis (2P etc) the Reserves and Resources are given by ERC Equipoise as follows (100% level, million barrels liquid recoverable):2P oil reserves 6222C oil resources 239Technically recoverable oil 150Prospective oil 65Condensate 150 (JF figure)TOTAL 1226So the ERCE figure is over 1.2 billion barrels recoverable of liquid, varying from very heavy oil through light oil to very light condensate. The Category 3 figure (3P etc) is much higher. Using the current 80% entitlement for GKP, the Category 2 figure for GKP is close to 1 billion barrels recoverable. In addition there is the c. $0.5 billion of net cash plus money owed to GKP going forward.An onshore oilfield of such size, at shallow to moderate depth, is worth a fortune. MOL have said that such oil has an M&A value of $8 per barrel. With political resolution between Erbil and Baghdad, the value of GKP would be transformed.

Three days ago - "Go and get the test results from SH12"

"Get them to publish the unedited test results."

"Go ask them for the test results."

Why can't YOU contact them.

So Doggie thinks GKP have “spent hundreds of millions” of dollars in a failed attempt to restore Shaikan production to the level of 2015. Since when ?

They actually spent nothing on subsurface work until very recently. They have increased production to the 40,000 bopd level , though output varied during the course of a work programme. Currently it is running at c. 36,000 bopd as the company has announced in RNS.

SH-1 and SH-3 have had increased-diameter production tubing successfully installed, delivering the planned output increases. SH-12 has been successfully drilled to target depth in the Jurassic Butmah. Instead of completing that well for production from the shallower Jurassic SAM reservoir, the company decided to perforate the deeper Butmah reservoir and put that onto a sustained production test. Perfectly normal practice because they need to establish the Butmah production characteristics for planning longer-term field development. The SAM is more prolific and the Butmah testing has restrained the SH-12 contribution to Shaikan output. As has been explained by GKP.

No other subsurface work had been completed when the work programme had to be suspended because of the Coronavirus epidemic and the depressed oil price.
