P2, re 'urgency' he gets the divi now but not if he buys tomorrow. Price would be marked down tomorrow by the value of the divi so that would nominally be neutral. It may not fall by so much tomorrow due to the buyback and the vagaries of the market so safer to buy now.

Just seen this too,* Peel Hunt cuts oil and gas producer Gulf Keystone Petroleum cuts PT after co says it expects FY gross production to be at lower end of its guidance* "In spite of the slight push back on initial development phase production ramp-up, we continue to see many reasons to be invested in Gulf Keystone," brokerage says* Brokerage cuts PT to 370p from 382p; reiterates "Buy" rating

290m bank account, receivables invoiced of at least 50m more , 38 k production, a very near lovely divi, and a 25m share buyback all real. Both Genel and GKP, throwing off cash, and are very attractive industry targets. Talk around Genel that the style of buyback a takeover defense from a low hostile approach. Seems likely hereto as both Buybacks of a "non tender" type. That would be far more conventional, so I would not be surprised either company gets a hostile approach. If a suitors bid was acceptable to either board I doubt very much they would have instigated a buyback in this way.

Oh dear no mysterious talks going on for years then. As if we didn't know.

Chinese/1712/multiple nicknamed BS'er fantasy now over 5 years in the making.

Pensioner seems very stressed these days as he realises all his views go down the dunny.

Didn't you all get lathered up about a Chinese company testing pressures at a few wells way back? It was suggested that they weren't impressed. And now many months later and after several alterations to plans can you see why, lol.

Have any of you "mathematicians" been able to work out why the predicted production for 2019 will be real low?

One new production well in how many years. Will the all important and fabled 55k now be achieved in 2020? No one should book the minstrels just yet:-)

Always nice "shooting the breeze" with you lot:-)

1/2m before 11.00. Is that 200k Gulf adding to their pot? That director buy is a bit strange as the share price usually drops as soon as it goes ex-div and that's when I would have expected a buy to come. Is there some urgency creeping in here?

OzzMosiz, mostly sour grapes from losers on this BB.

Sadly, I think that McFly has lost a mint. He was in Bermuda at AGM some time ago, lost his plot since. Share delusion probably swamped his resources, seems rather sour now. Rather sad.

Director buy, does mean that GKP have closed their books, how many years did that take?

The outfit is a gamble, pure and simple, couple more points and I'm gone, short button at the ready maybe.

Good luck to John, he of the Wharf! Hope he profits!

Mcfly, you make me lol comparing the outcome for this directors purchase to Murray's. As if anytime a Director buys the share price plummets. Desperate!

Isn't Ferrier always saying there are no directors buying as we are always in a Close Period?Should we believe ANYTHING else he says?=============================Who is we?!?!?LOL. I (lol) believe the 290m bank account, receivables invoiced of at least 50m more , 38 k production, a very near lovely divi, and a 25m share buyback all real. Looking at the most recent agm presentation the peer group comparison, with some of the lowest costs to produce in the world, just like Genel the potential for a bid/sale the kicker.

Pensioner2, I ticked at no. 12. Reasonable posts, keep your cool.

Been long from 224p, SP, so no divi, but sticking with it for now.

Dir Buy, peanuts, but interesting, as clearly the door is open.

Guess who ?

They have no contacts so don't understand.

The Chinese are coming.

They have installed the pumps.

Only 30% contingency and no plan changes.

Leave it to the professionals.

Robert Waterhouse has no oil & gas qualifications so isn't a professional.

Twenty three thousand quids worth lol (happy now)

Remind me but how much does he get paid a year ???

I remember when Simon Murray made the same gesture and how did that workout for him ???

Also note that if they were in any long drawn out sale negotiations over weeks months or years he couldn't of bought !
So that's yet more proof that ZERO Chinese talks are going on !
