https://x.com/zoomnewskrd/status/1883844553616330865 The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Federal Government have agreed to amend the Federal Budget Law to allow the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, halted since March 2023. According to Iraqi-Kurdish lawmaker Srwa Muhammed, the amendment requires the KRG to export its oil through the Iraqi State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO), with revenues deposited into the Iraqi treasury. |
The most flagged takeover in market history.
#gkp #gkptakeover CEO gets “stay bonus” paid this week. Few hundred thousand shares = several million when takeover announcement comes. Buyers needed to incentivise him strongly to stay 12 months post sale, as he will make many millions from his existing LTIP stock options. |
Yep sorry I just read the headline and assumed it was about the MPs. Stick for the MPs still in action then. Slow news day |
It's a proposal to get the public to vote in Government and Provincial elections such as the General election that's coming up later this year.
Instead of bribing people to vote the donkeys should be asking themselves why they are boycotting the elections in the first place. In the last provincial elections a month ago only 41% of the electorate turned out.
Rudaw digital.
A proposal to encourage voting; To exempt a million dinars from taxes.
A bill will be submitted to the Iraqi parliament to increase participation in elections, by exempting private sector employees from 10% of the tax owed, even if they are employees, six months of salary advance.
The bill is called "Election Encouragement" and has been signed by 10 MPs.
"We submitted the bill to the speaker of parliament and Speaker Mahmoud Mashdani agreed to send it to the legal committee," Amer Abdul Jabbar, a member of the Iraqi parliament who came up with the idea, told Rudaw.
According to the bill, any civilian and military employee who participates in the elections will receive a six-month salary advance. If the voter is not an employee, he or she will be given employment opportunities ahead of those who did not participate in the election.
"The aim of the bill is to encourage voters to participate in the elections as is done in some countries. The rate of boycott of the elections has increased and through the participation of as many voters as possible, true representation will be shown," he said.
The bill states that; If a person works in the private sector and participated in the vote, he will be exempt from 10% of the tax he is liable for, provided that the amount does not exceed one million dinars.
The last election held in Iraq was the provincial council elections on December 18, 2023, with a turnout of 41 percent. |
Great, where do I sign up? |
Carrot or stick. MPs will now get a tax rebate of 1 million if they turn up to vote. Can't make it up. https://x.com/rudawkurdish/status/1883824033512534120?s=46 |

5.8 million bought at 139.80 last buyback |
They don't have to buy any stock to support the share price ... |
Regarding your theory. Past buy backs had a vwap of 270 ish. Think 273p without looking back at the RNS. So where does that put us now.also John bought a token amount at 170p. ? Questioned to be answered. |
Cheers Kev, had to chuckle at that translation though :-) |
https://dinaropinions.com/trapped-in-government-drawers-parliament-calls-to-expedite-the-enactment-of-the-oil-and-gas-law/Member of the Parliamentary power Committee, Dahel Radhi, referred to as nowadays, Sunday, to expedite the regulation of the oil and gasoline regulation before the end of the present day parliamentary session.Radhi informed dinaropinions.com "The oil and gasoline regulation is a part of the authorities application voted on by the house of Representatives and goals to manage the oil wealth technique in Iraq and achieve truthful distribution many of the oil-producing provinces."He introduced, "Political differences and the dearth of consensus since the first session of the house of Representatives have kept the oil and gasoline invoice inside the government's drawers."He careworn the want to "expedite sending the oil and gas regulation to the house of Representatives for dialogue and vote casting, stressing that the regulation is involved with regulating the united states's herbal resources." |
Thanks. All very odd. Even some token buying in the 150s would support the price and probably push the share price higher. Always nice to have a floor. And if and when the pipe does open we'll never see these levels again, so would be very good for shareholders longer term. They also seemed quite positive that local demand is robust and cash has massively increased so it seems a bit of a waste at present. Perhaps we're all due a very chunky dividend in March. That would be nice. |
https://www.spglobal.com/commodity-insights/en/news-research/latest-news/crude-oil/012725-iraq-turkey-oil-pipeline-standoff-continues-ahead-of-budget-law-vote An Iraqi Kurdish delegation will meet with the Iraqi finance minister in Baghdad on Jan. 27 as the dispute continues over the Iraqi budget law, on which hope hinges to resume crude exports through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline.A vote is expected on Jan. 28 on the 2025 Iraqi budget law after efforts to amend the law were fumbled again on Jan. 23, when Iraq's council of representatives failed to vote on the amendment, according to a statement from the government in semiautonomous Iraqi Kurdistan. The amendment, suggested by the Iraqi government in November, calls for the companies to receive $16/b for their production, but on Jan. 23, a spokesperson for the semiautonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region accused Iraqi lawmakers of removing the amendment from the proposed budget law."This proposal contradicts the previous decision of the federal Council of Ministers regarding the amendment of the budget law to restart oil exports from the Kurdistan Region," the KRG spokesperson said.A federal Iraqi government spokesperson denied the claim. An Iraqi government spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. A KRG spokesperson said an update would be provided after the meeting. The $16/b price is less than what the international oil companies operating in Kurdistan had been seeking, but it is higher than the $6.90/b price set by the three-year federal budget passed in June 2023. The trade group representing the international oil companies tentatively welcomed the proposal, saying at the time that there "could be sufficient scope in the current wording to cover our previous requests related to commercial terms and surety of payment for past and future exports via the Iraq-Turkey Pipeline."Once the law is enacted, federal authorities in Baghdad, the Kurdistan Regional Government and the oil companies can begin to negotiate further details, including owed payments and contract terms, but that will likely be a drawn-out affair with multiple competing interests.Contract terms have been at the center of this longstanding debate, with Baghdad seeking to convert the production-sharing contracts the companies previously signed with the KRG into service contracts comparable to ones IOCs have signed with the federal government. Those terms are less profitable for the companies, but a trade association representing oil companies in Kurdistan has said it is willing to consider modifying existing contracts if an agreement can be made between all parties.Pipeline flows have been suspended since March 2023, when a Paris-based arbitration court said Ankara had violated the Iraq-Turkey pipeline agreement by allowing independent Kurdish sales, suspending roughly 400,000 b/d of medium sour Kurdish crude exports, as well as 75,000 b/d of Kirkuk crude, to the Mediterranean market.Analysts have said that political parties and traders in Kurdistan profit heavily from the pipeline's closure, and there is little political will in Baghdad or in Kurdistan to resume exports.Despite the pipeline's closure, IOCs in Kurdistan have ratcheted up production, finding a somewhat lucrative domestic market that has kept the companies generating cash and allows for middlemen and traders to profit. Regional production from the five publicly listed companies again ticked up in the third quarter of 2024, reaching 184,000 b/d, a 9.5% increase from the previous quarter. |
We do not know what peel hunt and cannacord have been up to.They could have bought stock over past 16 weeks, and when time right pass a large lump in an in mkt trade .They could be waiting to buy when amendment passed. They could be protecting the share price pre sale RNS.What is clear is that one way or another the more stock the company buys and cancels the better. |

Bob
I've asked a few times. Got a waffle answer the first time and then been ignored since. Definitely not a standard buyback imo and if there was a genuine reason for not spending it such as another use of the capital etc they would have let us know. |
Out of interest, has anyone tried contacting the company to find out why they haven't used any of the buyback? |
Broadfraud is just another attention seeking chihuahua, yap yap yapping away like his good friend Bigdog5 and should be treated exactly the same.
