ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) sent a letter dated 2024/3/5, numbered 2147/4/7, to the Iraqi Ministry of Finance. In the letter, they requested funding from the Iraqi Ministry of Finance to cover the full salary of all civil servants in the Kurdistan Region for February, which amounts to 949,813,146,170 Dinars. This request is made to ensure fair treatment and equality for all civil servants in the region.

However, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance has only allocated 560 billion and 217 million dinars, which accounts for only 59% of the total salary. As a result, 41% of civil servants in the region are being deprived of their salaries.

This measure by the Iraqi Ministry of Finance has resulted in a deficit in the payment of salaries for February, amounting to approximately 390 billion dinars. As a result, significant financial problems have arisen, leading to deprivation for a sizable portion of civil servants.

According to letters issued by the Ministry of Finance of the Federal Government, no funding will be provided to the KRG for the salary of March 2024.

KRG is currently processing the MyAccount initiative under the supervision of the Central Bank of Iraq, and negotiations are still ongoing. It is important to note that none of these measures from the Iraqi Ministry of Finance should result in any deprivation of civil servants in the region.

The Kurds are just like the Palestinians in that they are persecuted. The USA are only interested in their welfare because of the oil and as a strategic defence location.
It seems this situation could last and last but hopefully trump if elected could bring peace.
