Some Of Texas' Biggest Refineries Could Take Weeks To Restart

Some of the largest oil refineries in Texas could take weeks to restart as they would need to repair the damages from the big Texas freeze, Bloomberg reports, citing sources with knowledge of the situation.

The Baytown and Beaumont refineries of ExxonMobil, Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Refinery in Texas City, and the Port Arthur refinery operated by Total are expected to be down for at least several weeks as the winter storm caused damage to the facilities.

Those four refineries have a combined refining capacity of 1.76 million barrels per day (bpd) - Marathon’s refinery has a 585,000-bpd capacity, Exxon’s Baytown refinery can process 580,500 bpd, and its Beaumont refinery has a 369,000-bpd capacity. Total’s Port Arthur facility has a capacity of 225,500 bpd.


Weeks of shut refineries in the Gulf Coast will tighten gasoline supply in the U.S. and lead to hikes in gasoline prices, which are already evident this week.

Many more refineries were shut down at the start of the Texas Freeze. IHS Markit estimates that almost 6 million bpd of refining capacity, including 5.2 million bpd of the capacity in the Gulf Coast and 730,000 bpd of refining capacity in the Midwest, was impacted.

According to GasBuddy’s analysis, 11 refineries in Texas and one in Kansas have at least partially shut due to the extremely cold weather. The national average price of gasoline may jump over the next two weeks by 10-20 cents per gallon from its current price of $2.54 per gallon as a result of the refinery shutdowns, GasBuddy said on Wednesday.

Re the water at the time of the CC the KRG stopped drilling on some rigs under the ruse that they hadn't got the right certs , they were down for 6 months ! this was before the judgement , when the judgement went to GKP Sothick immediately started shorting and the KRG allowed the drills to start up. As BBBS and Trevian said at the time they were testing for water connectivity between fields . So from this time they knew what they had and it was too good for the likes of us so the campaign to get rid of PIs went full ahead.

On Sunday, the Parliamentary Integrity Committee revealed that there are between 450 to 600 billion dollars in foreign banks, which are Iraqi funds that were smuggled abroad, indicating that the committee intends to recover it.

A member of the Integrity Committee, Abdul Amir Al-Mayahi, told Al-Maalouma that "influential personalities and officials in the political process have smuggled money out of Iraq from 2003 until now with fake names placed in those banks and the names of their relatives."

He added that "the size of this money is estimated at 450 to 600 billion dollars," noting that "the funds are huge and it could contribute significantly to solving the Iraq crisis ."

Al-Mayahi explained that "the committee is hosting the head of the money recovery department in the government for the purpose of travel and forming a committee to follow up on those funds and recover them to Iraq ."

Following this single well, Shaikan 1 had a naming plate ceremony with dignitaries present.

Shaikan 1 was a SUPERGIANT Country Maker & a field which we now have a 80 percent interest in.

Why would ERC Equipoise be happy to produce an updated set of numbers only to see GKP doctor them and then release those fraudulent numbers to the market with ERCE's name on them.

I doubt very much the company have the balls to announce they found water simply because they know what it would do to the share price If any of you were honest with yourselves you would think back to S6, the water well and how that was kept quiet for over 12 months. It required such a lot of testing they said before it was abandoned. Drilling fluid is such a great excuse when in doubt I understand.

Then there was the radio silence about about SA2, SA3 and of course S7, the drill that was drilling to the centre of the earth for the fabled Permian but the Jurassic eat it. Did they ever explain how and why the Jurassic had it for breakfast or was any excuse lost in the fullness of time. Rather like the 2nd amendment to the PSC that was a hot topic when good old JF rocked up well over five years ago.

Isn't it strange that the Permian never gets a mention now.

Which is it this week, one of Paul's imminent takeaways (6 years in the cooking) or an oil agreement?

(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Kurdistan Regional Government affirmed today, Sunday, that the tension between the region and Baghdad must be resolved in accordance with the constitution.
The Minister of Martyrs and Anfalin, Abdullah Hajj Mahmoud, said in a speech on behalf of the regional government on the day of the Iraqi martyr, attended by the correspondent of Al Furat News, “We remember the martyr of the Mihrab, one of the great men and models in the struggle against dictatorship, and he was martyred for Iraq. That this day be a building block for respecting shared values. "
He added, "Iraq suffers a lot of instability, and all rights and spectrums of the Iraqi people, including the people of Kurdistan, must be respected on the basis of respecting the foundations of partnership and consensus."
He continued, "The Kurdistan region offered hundreds of thousands of martyrs so that we could have a federal Iraq," stressing "the need to resolve the tension between Baghdad and the region on the basis of the constitution."
He noted, "There is no doubt that finding a solution between the two sides is common ground, and strengthening the economy and prosperity should be considered."
"The strength of the region is from the strength of Iraq and we are ready to find solutions, which is not only through the budget, but also from the application of the articles in the constitution, oil, the disputed areas and the Peshmerga," he concluded.
