LONDON--The chief executive of Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd. (GKP.LN) Monday said his company doesn't need a takeover deal to grow the business, but he would be willing to consider any sensible offer.

Analysts have said the company, an oil producer in Iraqi Kurdistan, is more attractive as an investment proposition after it completed a debt restructuring in October.

Sadly, I know two people who have OU degrees who needed quite a lot of help with some of the modules to get through, which I helped with, because I could. Not especially proud of that, but at the time I was quite young and more into problem solving than ethical judgements. There is, these days, more scrutiny about where submitted work has come from.

I'm no educational snob, but the provenance of some qualifications is, imo, questionable. These days employers know that, though. I have always weighted interview performance a lot higher than bits of paper.

Obviously the city knows that GKP is worth a lot of money and will wait for a decent takeover.

It's an interesting turn of phrase, 2j, as I had a conversation with the Serious Fraud Office in the recent past concerning a boiler room scam they'd uncovered that was peddling GKP stock.They wanted to know if I had any thoughts on who might have been involved. I gave them my views, pointed out various serial fraudsters they might like to keep their eyes on.
