Yes , long term Ethanol is here to stay and the industry will evolve and adapt in light of the changing economics and politics

For this year Cenkos were looking for a 60c margin .My calcs for the first 6 months I get 53 - 55c as the first 3 months very poor.

Page 8 of the below shows how margin follows a trend each year

Have bought more myself but more based on the cyclical nature of the price movements. Intermins to be broadly in line but by-products hold the interest here and 6 months since the zein collaboration notice so looking to see if they have moved it a stage on

Not me, I have been a buyer. Using the average margin over the last three months the PER for the forthcoming half year results will be around 1. A massive 10-15 million paydown in debt is a realistic prospect even allowing for a maiden dividend. There is always the risk that margins will fall back, but then again they might rise. Anyone selling now will regret it, big time.

The worry in the market is surely that after the new year blender's credit is slated to end. This reduction of 45c will doubtless have a negative knock-on effect on distillers margins but I think this will be limited and short-term because the overall volumes are mandated to increase.

10 blocks of 25,000 sharess traded in the last 3 days - someone still interested (or not). RSI appears very low and looking good for a move up in Sep . Hopefully we can expect an AGM statment in late Sep.(as per 2009 and 2010)

does anyone have the date for this years AGM , cant seem to find it ?

I think you will find this reflects Henderson taking over Gartmore who had 8.8m shares-27.56%- as per the last annual report as at May 31 2011; the small increase either reflects the holding that Henderson pre Gartmore had or a market purchase.

Ten days late, reporting a 28.03% position is not too bad is it?

Yes!!! Very interesting indeed. I don't have many potential
rockers from .70 to 17....agreed over 3 years or so, but nevertheless....
I don't or can't find a breakthrough application in the food world quite
like it....but you can't bet on them all....just little bits here and there!!!

Caveat

Henderson don't need to know any more than we do. Current margins indicate a PER of 2 then you can add on whatever potential you can see for the Zein project. Downside virtually zero, multibag upside potential.

There are still lots of uncertainties around concerning the legislative and fiscal framework but the price is far below a reasonable discount to take account of those.

If margins persist at current levels, and I think they will, then the next results will be the best ever and prompt a big re-rating. Other ethanol producer results will come out earlier of course and may uplift the share price in advance of the results.

Lastly another of my shares, PDX, markets a technology to improve yields and cycle times in ethanol plants. Several competitors are trialling this, perhaps GTL will as well and improve profitability still further.

Silly point but if Henderson get over 30% do they have to make a bid ? LOL!!!

Henderson Global Investors RNS now over 28%

May explain why we are 20p lower than another share I own that usually shares the price.
They haven't much room for any further Buys though without an offer?
Would not be too happy at this stage unless it was at least £1.50p.

Just been looking how margins have been going, they have kept at high levels for two months now with no sign of weakness. Using other figures from the last results I calculate a current PER of less than 2. Easily low enough to tempt me back in big time.

Can't see why anyone would be selling voluntarily with a return like that in prospect. Lots of other bargains out there but none as obvious as this one. There might even see a divvy this year even allowing for a big reduction in borrowings.

bashing E to redoubling US investment in it as a carbon alternative,
