This should be a Federal Case (not state by state).

I think in thu the judge announces whether GSK has a case to answer and whether or.not the 3000 claimants can sue , if yes then trial date will be set . That's my understanding

In GSK third quarter press release its a bit unclear:

In the California Zantac litigation Cases JCCP 5150 (JCCP), the Court will hold a Sargon hearing on
25 January 2023 regarding the admissibility of expert witnesses, including general causation expert witnesses,
for the first bellwether trials. The first bellwether trial is expected to start on 13 February 2023 in the California
JCCP.

It says started on MONDAY - but nothing about ending on THURSDAY

Netcurtains the case started Monday ( well technically last week ) and results due thu in America, Fri here , according to the times

The previous outcome is probably the best GSK could have hoped for given how comprehensively the judge in the case dismissed the plaintiffs’ arguments. Rejected in Florida, shot down by FDA, its hard to see how anything will get through this time.

Elsewhere, failing clinical trials for new pipeline therapies is more of a risk...

I suspect it will be after close.
So we'll have some information by FRIDAY MORNING....

There can be no decision on outcome of case for months or years.

So really, logically, it can only be good or neutral-ish.

ahead with case or not is a sperate issue to outcome of case.

Obviously deciding there is a case to answer is not as good as dismissal
but one would have to assume that is in the price (for the most part)
- otherwise what was the point of the big fall?

Surely the market has already assumed the case will go ahead?

I would agree, but the Times article says:

"But Zantac's ban in 2019, several years after GSK stopped selling it, has cast a long shadow. On Thursday, a judge in California is expected to rule on whether 3,000 cancer patients in the US have the right to sue GSK for damages that could run into the billions."

Looks like mm’s backing GSK expecting a 8% rally as court case thrown out based also on US companies may be impacted if it’s not.
GSK looking strong this week as RNS Wednesday is positive and rally continues ..

Happy days ahead for GSK…
