Yep - for sure we will know soon I dose myself every winter with vit D It's not absolutely certain that it helps with CV19 but there seems to be a lot of circumstantial evidence that it does Not least the greater risk factor for black/Asians living here relative to living in warmer climates

That was the total amount, not daily. 200,000iu of Vit D3 daily and
you would become seriously ill very quickly as it's a fat soluble vitamin stored in the liver.

Spot on William.
Post 21883.

Wearing masks = lowered viral load as well. Don't understand why so many against such.

Be interesting to see how things progress mid Sept onwards.

200,000IU of Vit D - how bloody much? That's massively over isn't it?

I was taking 4000IU a day which was a tad high...now twice weekly or so.

I supplemented with 200,000 IU of Vit D3 in early March as did my better half. That is not a recommendation and well in excess of any recommended dose.
In strong enough sun the body can manufacture approx 20,000iu daily.

William, expect we will know around mid September time.

Probably represents infections coming from lower viral loads due to less people indoors and social distancing - plus better general vit D levels - and age profile of those getting it - it's young people going to pubs Don't think there's any evidence yet of the virus losing potency

The one silver lining atm is COVID hospital admissions remain low
even with a rapid acceleration in cases. There will be a lag and we are still
In August with fewer other respiratory viruses in circulation. Hopefully it
indicates a weakening of the COVID virus.

TM - you don't think that there is enough of a domestic issue that may/may not be tenable? ;)

With Covid hitting Europe for a second wave, its just as well BREXIT is moving ahead otherwise the prospect of bailing out the EU failing economy after this plague would not be tenable.

That's reasonable to state but, holistically, I think we will lose much more than we gain. We are becoming more isolated from our near neighbours economically, politically and culturally. I don't see the rest of the world falling over itself to give us great trade deals which will be better or equal to that which we already had with the bloc. Be interesting to see where we are this time next year.

The UK has been indirectly supporting French farmers for years

France has been receiving 2.5 more rural and agricultural payments from the EU than the UK-FACT

I cannot see a single benefit of Brexit and don't support it in the slightest but I also respect that a majority voted for it and we have to respect that. What does seem like lunacy is pursuing a hard Brexit in the wake of the worst recession in living memory. I hope it is just posturing and we end up with a reasonable deal though.

It normally takes at least five years or more to create a proper vaccine, the current news of everybody making a vaccine is IMO Fakes, sadly.

Michael, around 1460/80 looks a decent buy area to me.

Just a guessestimate on my part and may not become available.

Worth considering on the COVID vaccine is the resources commitment.

They only employ so many pharmacologists and virologists, other areas of
the business potentially suffer, at least short term.

Any ideas this is going to be some bumper payout for GSK are misplaced imv.

@gekko-the-knuckle-dragging-gammon.

...well brexit is working out great then?? trashed currency isnt helping the U.K. either. To answer your question, all those indexes have outperformed the ftse 100 and the dax has murdered it.

There can be only one reason for a dropping Ftse and pharma shares, the corona virus is coming back as the vaccines cure is missing.

Am very very tempted at current levels.

Some decent value appearing in pockets that's for sure.

At the current level GSK has to be a great stock to buy and tuck away.

German car owners should think about the duplicity of their manufacturers.

Yawn another Remoaner peddling drivel.
Ftse is predominantly mining/international companies so its weakness is down to a multitude of factors.

How have the Dax, the CAC , the IBEX done over the same time period then? or the MIB?
Or any European Index - Greece anyone?
