26/7/2021 11:14 | GlaxoSmithKline's Demerger Plan Has Failed To Excite Investors Summary GSK’s plan to spin off its consumer healthcare division has not led to a substantial revaluation of the group. It is planning to spin off at least 80% of its stake in the consumer business by mid- 2022, with a view to selling the remaining interest at a later date. Dividends will be cut by 31% in 2022, as the company seeks to repair its balance sheet and prioritize R&D spending. | geckotheglorious
26/7/2021 10:54 | A sale of 100% of consumer is what Elliot wants and perhaps Elliot is right. Delay the sale and we risk missing the boat. | tombag
26/7/2021 10:50 | Keyno, It came up on stockopedia, but it could just be Aimees view on Twitter, unsure, but does make sense as they can focus on Biochem etc rather than toothpaste, expect we will find out the truth on Weds GLA | charlie9038
26/7/2021 10:44 | I thought that a sale wasn't on the table as far as GSK are concerned. Sounds like some are expecting a different tack with results on Wed. I wouldn't hold your breath. I want value here too and we aren't getting any as things stand. | keyno
26/7/2021 10:41 | Indeed Ftse seems to be in lock step with US futures, which ticked up a little. Wonder if our beloved will join in ? | andyadvfn1
26/7/2021 10:39 | Keyno: I did say over the weekend that the important thing was the cost of toothpaste etc but some poohpoohed the idea. But in reality the selling of the consumer side is what is going to shift this price. | netcurtains
26/7/2021 10:36 | Isn't this [#747] just the view of Aimee Donnellan - whoever she is? | keyno
26/7/2021 10:34 | Its falling, like all of FTSE, as American futures have done a belly flop | netcurtains
26/7/2021 10:32 | Doesn't stop it falling though!! | spoole5
26/7/2021 10:32 | That's almost 80% of current market cap | spoole5
26/7/2021 10:04 | That would be interesting. | alex1621
26/7/2021 08:46 | Spoole5: With the incredibly low share price I think we can say bad figures are already factored into the price. If the figures were expected to be good it would not be 1400 it would be 2000. I guess we're talking about how relatively bad. If only slightly relatively bad could rise to 1500 If expected bad could settle about 1425 if worse than bad could go to 1300 | netcurtains
26/7/2021 08:35 | She can't afford to disappoint this week | spoole5
25/7/2021 09:14 | Mail on Sunday short article suggesting GSK will post improving revenues next week. | alex1621
24/7/2021 16:38 | spud: you said "consumer division will probably be taken out".... That is my very point! The more profit it makes NOW the better price we will get for it. To my mind the URGENT profit is the consumer profit because its basically up for sale. The pharma side really needs good trial results and good promises of future growth. The consumer side needs good growth story NOW as its up for sale NOW. | netcurtains
24/7/2021 16:30 | It a Sun exclusive story..........covid built on fraud Bernie's Tweets @BernieSpofforth If this is actually happening then it needs a full investigation by the Police & the head of Gov procurement needs to lose their job. We’ve sacrificed far to much because incompetence, criminal activity and greed is allowed to continue. | jimarilo
24/7/2021 16:17 | Consumer division will probably be taken out before it gains any meaningful traction. spud | spud
24/7/2021 14:24 | What will determine the valuation and future share price is what both companies are worth, with the new Pharma being the most valuable of the two. Your original point was that higher consumer sales would boost the share price That would only be true if accompanied by better vaccine and pharma sales. If the latter are poor, the consumer sales are unlikely to plug the gap. | alex1621
24/7/2021 07:38 | In the split of the two companies next year, what really is going to count is how much is the toothpaste company worth...... The more sun blocker and toothpaste that are sold the more GSK will get for that part of the company and thus the more money our shares will be worth. In a sense we're selling a toothpaste company and we want as much money for it as possible. That is the name of the game for the next two years. | netcurtains
24/7/2021 01:15 | Your points make no sense. | alex1621
23/7/2021 19:05 | totally disagree. Unilever is the 2nd biggest company on the FTSE100 by market cap. and Reckitt Benckiser 12th Like many people you're getting blinded by tech and drugs. What really counts is the profit made by toothpaste and sun cream. Of course AZN is number ONE on the UK stock market today but is that because people have got covid19 on the brain? I think they do. | netcurtains
23/7/2021 18:47 | It's not that material if the other two businesses are underperforming. Toothpaste sales don't move the needle. | alex1621
23/7/2021 16:41 | alex1621: what percentage of the business is the consumer side? If its accounts for 25% or more, then any good growth in consumer side is going to boost the entire company. | netcurtains |
