06/7/2021 09:04 | I can't help but being struck that more and more papers report the large Elliott stake as a "fact". Either their journos are all being taken in, to a (wo)man, or there is some truth in what they're printing, or they are all copying the original story. Or something inbetween. Interesting. I hope the story about Elliott is true - and the FT printing it gives me some hope that it is - and that the board and other large shareholders are merely biding their time before giving her the old heave-ho. | keyno
06/7/2021 09:04 | Q1 dividend pays out in 2 days time. Anyone buying more, this time? | tradermichael

06/7/2021 08:49 | A lack of believers in market forces this morning! | alphorn
06/7/2021 08:35 | Yes, agree, entirely the point (GSK in particular)! | tradermichael
06/7/2021 08:35 | Well I guess if the Market attributed correct valuations in the first place there would no need for resentment! spud | spud
06/7/2021 08:31 | Fund managers and other commentators were queuing up to attack the US buyout groups who have been swarming through the London market, buying up companies on the cheap. Morrisons’ bidding battle seems to have ignited a growing resentment among shareholders, employees and other stakeholders against PE firms’ activities here. | tradermichael
06/7/2021 08:07 | when they say toughest - what does that mean? Boxing? or what? Surely that is a meaningless expression. I understand smartest, that could mean nice dresser of is in upper quartile in Mensa tests. In a more general sense, a typical UK pensioner relying on state pension is probably smarter and a tougher money manager then these rich Americans born with a shed load of silver spoons in their mouths. They probably couldn't fight their way out of paper bag. | netcurtains
06/7/2021 08:02 | Paul Elliott Singer is an American hedge fund manager, activist investor, philanthropist, and the founder, president and Co-CEO of Elliott Management. Fortune magazine described Singer as one of the "smartest and toughest money managers" in the hedge fund industry. | tradermichael
06/7/2021 00:48 | "there is no geezer named elliott" Yeah and potentially there is no shareholder called Elliott. | podgyted
05/7/2021 22:06 | Oh its far far worse than that. I dont even know what 13F is apart from either a hotel room. | netcurtains
05/7/2021 21:06 | You don't even know what form 13F represents, lol. | montyhedge
05/7/2021 19:07 | there is no geezer named elliott. | netcurtains
05/7/2021 17:19 | There also used to be 'free' shares for some of the top guys - a small note buried deep in the footnotes. | alphorn
05/7/2021 17:12 | I think it is the eye-popping remuneration for average to below par boardroom performance that really annoys me. I was reading how much EW has 'earned' in share options to date on the other chat board. An amazing gig if you can get it...oh, to be part of the cozy club and the UK remuneration committee circuit as well. Anyway, I wonder how long Elliott were researching GSK before they showed their hand? Certainly going to be an interesting few months here now. GLA. | lovewinshatelosses
05/7/2021 13:44 | Bernie Madoff used to post 13F filings every quarter for years. No one at the SEC checks them, so they might not be accurate. | alex1621
05/7/2021 13:12 | Maybe form 13F does not exist except in your imagination. | abdullla
05/7/2021 12:17 | Can't wait to see 13F filing from Elliott Management. Have they really got two billion pounds of stock. | montyhedge
05/7/2021 10:43 | Looking at what is going on with MRW, maybe Elliot is right; in today's climate for deals the way to go is to sell the healthcare business. | tombag
05/7/2021 09:33 | No it is end of going UP . | abdullla
05/7/2021 08:30 | It is called enjoying success at the cost of others. | abdullla
05/7/2021 08:23 | So hedge your bets. I'm in big pharma, GSK, and small pharma services supplying big pharma, orph. Seems sensible to me. | pierre oreilly
05/7/2021 08:20 | For all developed countries health expenditure is rising. More importantly, expenditure on pharma as a percentage of health spending is forecast to increase considerably over the coming years and decades as we try to both avoid and prepare for future pandemics of various kinds. Basically, the near future is about designing drugs for theoretically possible new viruses, and variants of existing viruses, which don't exist yet in nature (and hopefully never will). That's why the likes of Elliot are interested - it's a government sponsored worldwide growing market for GSK, and others, expertise. | pierre oreilly |
