What matters is steadily improving results and positive updates on drug developments. Next update end of July. If the City become more confident on the strategy you end up with a company that's growing profitability ... more than making up for any loss in dividend. Many companies don't pay any dividends ... yet they don't trade at zero? Go figure.

Lol 30% dividend cut in 2022. Then again 2023 to 45p. You lot seem happy. First hour of trade on a Monday is amateur hour. MM just marked up on some PR in a Sunday newspaper.

Hard work starts now for Glaxo, says Interactive Investor
The hard work starts now for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) after it confirmed the spin-off of its consumer healthcare business, says Interactive Investor.

The group is planning to demerge 80% of its consumer healthcare division as part of a wide-ranging five-year plan that includes growing sales more than 5% and profit more than 10%. It also wants to deliver sales of over £33bn, prioritise research and development, and commercial investment in vaccines and specialty medicines under chief executive Emma Walmsley.

Analyst Richard Hunter said the plans were ‘undeniably ambitious’ but it was not certain they would create an ‘inflection point’ for the shares.

‘Following a strategic reset, the hard work arguably starts here,’ he said.

‘AstraZeneca (AZN) is for the moment significantly preferred in terms of the market consensus, coming in at a strong ‘buy’. Glaxo, meanwhile, remains a ‘hold’ in terms of the general view and has much ground to make up to reverse the years of what has been a tepid share price performance.’

Shares in Glaxo edged up 0.2%, or 2.2p, to £14.13 on Friday.

There are posters here and other bulletin boards who are here to keep some of us and they themselves out of boredom,I feel they may or may not have any GSK shares or any other shares for that matter,let them stay here if they want to.

I reckon Elliott will throw in the towel, they had the dividend, nice profit, they can't do anything, no declarable stake, no seat on the board, I would say goodbye.

good article and thanks for posting it . We might need some patience with GSK after the recent good run has stalled and now consolidating before moving higher hopefully !
