13/8/2018 21:57 | CD and Sage. Be great to meet up later in year. This is the only thread I am on so to avoid more criticism If u send me your e mail to geraldlevelle@hotmai | millwallfan
13/8/2018 21:50 | Amount of money made is irrelevant. | mariopeter
13/8/2018 21:34 | Thanks a Sageman I was not going to bother to reply to that bigot I just cannot believe that educated people can act in such a abominable way Cheers CD | neville1940
13/8/2018 21:34 | Then let him discuss his holiday plans privately Or better still, back on 3i No need to clutter this thread up It is bad enough when you bang on about the zinc price being the only issue 😜 | phillis
13/8/2018 21:30 | Phillis, I would ask you not to be rude to CD. He is a proper long term share holder who has posted over many years. He is someone who has made more money on this share than probably anyone on this board. Manners cost nothing, not having manners can be very expensive - think about it. | sageman
13/8/2018 21:13 | CD Why don't you just use PMs? And spare us! | phillis
13/8/2018 19:21 | let the scam unfold | opodio
13/8/2018 11:31 | The other thing we are interested in doing (apart from trying to prevent the directors treating this Company like a personal bank account)is valuing the share on a dividend valuation basis not on a p/e basis since the mine is so mature and surplus investment has been made into it. Agree with Phillis too in that the first half results were a surprise and nobody likes surprises. Mines are dig it, process it and sell it. We all knew the sales prices and can see regular quantum except the one thing management should have a handle on, ie the quantum, was weak (throughput and quality). Have to say I was not too enamoured either to discover that last years surprise announcement in relation to the debt being paid off early had been done at the expense of creditors. These are two examples of management surprise (others including me might feel manipulation). Hard enough to make money in the stock market when you have management doing this. Anyway I have zero shares and am not short on the stock either. Not moaning just highlighting. Management are impressive in many ways but I feel the need to sync with, and truly understand, their surprises as well as hope sales of zinc go well. At the end of the day they are taking wealth from investors unchecked so any interest will ever be short term for me....I hope! | mariopeter
13/8/2018 08:59 | To all eggsuckers The price of concentrate realised in 1st half was 20% higher than the previous year's price but there was zero increase in profit WHOOPS! Why? Simple really - yields were down and overheads were up. Nothing to do with price at all So why didn't the BOD alert? The UKLA needs to look into this | phillis
13/8/2018 01:02 | Rougetreader, They are "nice" people ..... | up just a little bit
13/8/2018 00:44 | Never posted on iii or read it, but can only assume it was a "love in" with no contrary arguments put forward (from what is posted above). If you can't figure out for yourselves that is pointless and a waste of time then you are beyond redemption. This is no longer of value as a discussion forum. | podgyted
12/8/2018 21:51 | uolens uel nolens mea est maior quam tua. This thread continues to be very anal with people constantly quoting the size of their holdings and how long they have held them. | slopsjon2
12/8/2018 20:18 | RBAN Having given up Latin when I was 14, had to look it up! Funny how two short words can put a point so succinctly into context :) Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself. | roguetreader
12/8/2018 18:11 | I have been a holder of this stock for over 18 years and have every edition of the printed yearly accounts since the year 2000. I currently hold over 200,000 shares. No one is entitled to speak for me or to make assumptions about my holding or experience based simply on dislike for what I have to say. Those who attempt to do so reveal themselves as lacking intellectual rigor and confidence in their own positions. Attempting to undermine another's argument by ad hominem attacks rather than dealing with the substance of what they have to say is the mark of an internet troll, no matter how elegantly such attacks are couched. | rose_by_another_name
12/8/2018 17:37 | Having sold and stated my reasons for so doing I perhaps should not post anymore, but having been involved for so long I still retain a masochistic interest in the company. Sage, much of what you say in your last post is relevant but one important point is missing. The disingenuous manner in which the interims were announced coupled with the usual lack of information has raised concerns, or should have, with many current and potential investors. No dividend was disappointing but in light of the figures justified. I am going from memory but free cash flow was only 1m. There is a lack of confidence in the BOD | gailes5
12/8/2018 14:59 | Hi Roddie, my hope is that If I continue to state the facts the moaners will do some research and thereafter stop embarrassing themselves. Thereafter hopefully we can establish a really decent board as we did on III. There were some excellent insightful posts that assisted investment decision making rather than the vacuous nonsense which is share price up = BOD. Brilliant. Sp down = BOD are not fit for purpose. The inability to grasp the Sp correlation with zinc and that professionals use forward P/E ratios is an entry level skill required for this share. Thus if zinc is $1.60 and you think it will rise your profit calc is very different to zinc at $1.20 especially if you think it will fall. These calculations are the major drivers currently in play for the Sp. But for me I think that zinc aside the BOD will massively increase production once games of Chinese patience have finished. All things being equal ( given that zinc is cyclical) it means that the higher production must ultimately yield a higher Sp ( assuming costs and dilution are controlled). When combined with a dividend it makes for interesting times. In the meantime investors need to work out how best to invest. I hold a core and buy and sell on dips and peaks. | sageman
12/8/2018 14:40 | sage, You have made some good points, but constant repetition of an argument serves only to undermine it. you must have something better to do . | roddiemac2
12/8/2018 12:28 | Alan, so sorry to hear about your wife. Please accept my condolences. When I read what you and CD have to say it puts things here in perspective. | sageman
12/8/2018 10:42 | Thank you Neville I apreciate your reply, | alangrifbang
12/8/2018 09:36 | Hi Alangribang Good to talk about things I am a bit younger than you however as you possible know from my iii posts I lost my darling wife ,bestfiend ,& best mate just over 2 years ago aged 57 to cancer however the only thing we had done was to have all our affairs in order this makes things. Slightly easier but the GFM share price is so insignificant compared to what we have both been through I have made a small fortune on GFM but would give away every penny to have my wife back again , keep your chin up and good luck & good health to you CD (Neville ) | neville1940
11/8/2018 20:14 | Hello Neville ,another positive post, although I haven't talked about it before feel I must now,i will be 80 years old in January .my partner of 50 years ,had a massive stroke in November 2015 ,I never saw it coming she was very fit, between then and August 5 th last year when she passed away,I paid out of her account a six figure sum in nursing home fees, and recently when the probate was settled it cost another six figure sum in death duties ,there was no time to look into anything, not like cancer when you have time to talk about things,so please posters here make sure your affairs are in order in case it happens to you or your family,I too have held griffin for twenty years, my partner left me her entire portfolio including griffin,I will keep them and look forward to reading your and sagemans posts , | alangrifbang
11/8/2018 18:48 | Hi Sageman, As you know I have great respect for you however I wish you did not waste your precious time on these domakers , basically speaking they A Do no reasearch B When they get there fingers burnt all they resort to is being rude & disrespectful to the BOD C As you also point out they have no idea whatsoever how difficult it is to successfully run a mining company in China ( As pointed out by our great friend Phillip Read on the iii discussion site also endorsed by a great friend of mine who has been dealing with the Chinese fir the last 45 years In conclusion the BOD never bother to read these pointless posts also us long term holders have no issues whatsoever with the performance of GFM over the past 20years IMO still a lot of mileage in the share price riseing over the next 12 months CD | neville1940 |
