16/3/2005 09:41 | TK, He got TAGged. I do wish NUMIS GOS's broker would pull their finger out and do an updated report on GOS, these brokers I really do not know what they do for a living. So few Lloyd's and other PLC Insurance Sector stocks to cover and I think they just bash their AMEX cards all day in Greens Champagne Bar fiddling about having a laugh at our expense. I doubt anyone apart from the city proactive Vultures like Goldman Sachs, Phoenix Asset Mgt Ltd, Fidelity etc even know GOS has NET TANGIBLE ASSETS OF 52.00P yet is trading at 44.00P OFFER versus standard valuations in sector of regularly 175% to 225% of NTA! Oh the joys of city living just so glad it is shareholders that pay for it all! Abstemious Berg(;-)) | theberg

15/3/2005 14:51 | TK, Yes obviously Dementia, Goldman Sachs and Numis are trying to wear us down, sitting there laughing at us on GOS ie they are buyers not sellers. The thing with brokers/mms is they wear you down when they are buying marking price down or leaving it going nowhere and mark price up when they are selling. I can only guess there are quite big fees involved in an M & A deal of £100m say never mind the bid/offer spread numbers at 3.00p to 5.00p per mm. Us poor traders/punters are at the wrong side of the business. Broking and market making is quite literally a licence to print money. LOL! Bored Berg(;-)0 | theberg

15/3/2005 10:40 | TK, I wonder if this will help GOS improve the net 2001/2 Result and their net position with Lloyd's? LONDON (AFX) - The Lloyds Of London insurance market said it has reached a settlement agreement with the insurers involved with the arbitration proceedings relating to an insurance policy supporting its central fund financial safety net. The settlement, including amounts previously paid and taking account of premiums due under the policy and tax, totals 226 mln stg. In January, Lloyds warned the cost could be as high as 300 mln stg. The insurers involved in the settlement are Swiss Re; St Paul; Hannover Re; XL Re; Federal Insurance Company and Employers Re. The dispute centred on the insurers' refusal to pay out on a policy taken out by Lloyds against claims on its central fund between 1999 and 2003. Insurance claims soared during that period as a result of the destruction of the World Trade Centre on Sept 11 2001. In April 2003, the Society of Lloyd's began arbitration proceedings with the six insurers for recovery of the sums. The arbitration hearings, which began in August 2004, will now be discontinued, Lloyds said, adding that the terms of the settlement agreement will remain confidential between the parties. tc | theberg

14/3/2005 16:21 | SC, LOL! It is a bit difficult to justify selling a share with Net Tangible Assets of 52.00p for 42.00p I think personally especially in the season where insurance stocks tend to go up and clearly Goldman Sachs and NUMIS are looking at or working on takeover bids for Goshawk Insurance Holdings Plc/Rosemont Re as shown by last years Nikko talks. It seems GOS have got off to a good start in 2005 writing 40% more premium in the 1st January 2005 Renewal Season and that now brokers have attended the Full Year 2004 Results presentations they are again covering the stock. I guess we can expect some broker's notes out from NUMIS, ABNA, HSBC etc pretty soon. Berg | theberg
