'Priority drill targets to be aimed at identifying near-surface oxide-gold resources to augment existing oxide resource of approximately 100,000 oz gold'

what a coincidence..Anglo upgraded the Oxide Gold plant.

'The transition will take three years, according to Mark Morcombe, the senior vice-president in charge of the mine,'(that makes it about Q4 2016...which is about right)

and a chart to end with..

AngloGold Ashanti..... had been at Homase before.. and had pulled out when profit had dropped to below $100oz.

from the GRL website.
Mining by Ashanti Goldfields
Ashanti Goldfields (“AG”) acquired the Homase License from Shea Limited during 2001 for a production based consideration of approximately US$550,000 and mined ore from two pits (“Homase Pits”) during 2002 and 2003

Mining activities were limited to a strike length of 800 metres of the four kilometre long mineralised zone. The ore was trucked to AG's nearby Obuasi oxide processing plant and approximately 40,000 ounces of gold were recovered at a reported recoverable grade varying between 2.6 - 2.7 g/t.

AG ceased mining operations in the Homase License area during 2003 at a time when the gold price fluctuated between US$320 and US$380 per ounce and at a reported operating cost of US$220 and $280 per ounce.

Some comments made by the Anglo CEO.

-To engage in Surface mining for more profit

'He stated that AngloGold Ashanti will continue to operate in Ghana'

'the company, AngloGold) will not expel 6,500 workers as is being speculated, but refused to give the actual number of workers who will be affected by the redundancy exercise' (They're closing the mine( for a revamp).... but hanging onto a labour force.)

I'll have a write up tonight (busy today)... but they originally had the option to increase their holding in Homese to 85%...yet have ended up with 93%... There will be no sale of the company, certainly not at this level...Jurrie has quite a few share options that need to be exercised...and all at a much higer price than the current share price ...but, hats off to him,....he's pulling this round.

Nice research htrocks and timely news today. The link with AngloGold Ashanti is surely more than just a coincident factor to Stratex taking a "consultancy" interest in Goldstone. One can see the likely series of events. Goldstone (Stratex) prove up the Homase resource and either sell it direct to AA or (and what is more likely) hand over development and operation of the mine to AA with AA funding the process rather like the model employed with Bahar at Altintepe. Development to first gold pour would be very quick given the existing processing facilities.Three years time and this could be producing 30k oz of Gold p.a.

Akoase, located approximately 125km north-northwest of Accra, comprises the Akoase East (Inferred resource of 790,000 ounces) and has just changed hands for $10m and is a 'stones throw' from GRL's licences.

from the GRL website (and they are to have a further drilling session at Homase that, hopefully will surpass 790,000 ounces)

'The resource now stands at 10.6 million tonnes of ore at an average grade of 1.77 g/t gold, containing 602,000 ounces of gold..' (GRL's M/Cap is LESS than a quarter of Akoase) What will it be if/when the resource surpasses that of Akoase?)

ps.. an updated graph...it's looking good.

Just a quick observation..... the latest rns indicates possible drill targets about 800m south west of Akrokerri...being about 5km from Obusai which is currently going through a revamp and is to concentrate on shallower mining depths...which means that existing shallow depths have already been exhausted so new ones need to be located. Obusai is owned by AngloGold Ashanti who just happens to be Stratex's largest shareholder with 11.49%....the glove its. The point being...is the next deal to be a AngloGold/GRL J/V?

Stratex associate Goldstone identifies new gold zones in Ghana

Close-spaced auger samples are now being taken to identify drill targets.
Close-spaced auger samples are now being taken to identify drill targets.

Stratex International‘s (LON:STI) associate Goldstone (LON:GRL) has identified two potentially new gold zones at Homase/Akrokerri in Ghana.

Auger samples from gold targets along-strike and close to the existing 602,000 deposit at Homase/Akrokerri identified the mineralisation.

The two new zones are a 1,500m anomaly at the AK02 prospect, immediately south west of Homase/Akrokerri and an 800m anomaly, AK04, that may be an extension of AK02.

Close-spaced auger samples are now being taken to identify drill targets.

Stratex holds a 33.45% stake in Goldstone

The 3m Auger will give a good indication where to drill to depth. AngloGold Ashanti, next door, have been extracting gold all the way down to 1200 meters. Let's hope the GRL drill a bit deeper than their standard 140m in depth.
