Thanks - is there a link to the Chart Breakout tip? Whether it is a technical breakout just yet is a debateable point.

Thanks irvbox - seems to have done the trick. Up again today. Raised price target from £1 to £1.16 is also very good news.

If WorldPay come in for DATA we could be looking at a serious premium to the current price. If they are looking to buy "local" in each EU country DATA have got to be the prime target.

Looking good :-))))

Also a very good looking chart.

Found this little snippet in the Timesonline

The purchase of Bibit, of the Netherlands, by WorldPay raised hopes of further consolidation in the payment processing sector and helped AIM- listed Datacash Group up 6p to 96p, with a raised 116p target from Numis Securities giving further support.

An additional thought - given the volume I suspect this has been tipped somewhere. Anyone got sharesmag this week?

Load of small trades - gotta be a tip.

All good though

The 200,000 buy at 95p has got to help - that is some serious cash - institutional action? Pre-takeover buying.......

As someone noted, it is excellent news that KenB has only once been asked for his pin number. Wait until DATA and IBM start flogging retailers the hard and software. Everyone is a winner.

Cards can still be stolen and used for online buys. DATA also have a fraud solution (I also hold RTD - doing well now on the fraud stuff).

Paper - there was a dicussion on this board about possible buyers for DATA. Names are mentioned but look US trying to get a hold of the UK market.

I think DATA have been winning business of US firms as UK retailers/bookies want a local company working in the same time zone etc.

Ken

It could be a good thing if many uk stores have not taken it up yet! at least this will be revenue for DATA in the future ie. not in the share price as yet!

Britishbear your on the DAG bb as well are you not? Who can you see targeting DATA any names?

I just returned from Milan on a shopping trip and ALL the stores had pin capability. What market is DATA focusing its sales push towards is it mainly in the uk or Europe or both?

It is not much use stealing a credit card, if you haven't got the pin!

The problem is that although my card has had a pin since 1st June, only one store has asked for it so far.

Apparently in France where chip and pin has already been very widely adopted, card fraud has been reduced by 80%.

Yep, looking good. Always had £1 as a short term target.

Chip and pin cards flying through the post,

Looking for another positive trading update.

We all know the online gambling is growing massively and I still have a sneaky feeling that DATA will soon become a takeover target.

02 June 2004 - Online shopping in the UK and Europe is doubling year-on-year according to figures released by payment card association Visa.

Total UK sales figures for the first quarter of 2004 were more than twice that of the same period in 2003 – an increase of 123%. During that time, Visa cardholders in the UK spent over £2.4 billion on the Internet.

A big winner has been the retail industry, particularly in the area of food and drink, in which sales have more than trebled. This growth has been helped by a massive rise in people ordering their groceries from supermarkets over the Web, says the card firm.

igoe104,

I used the words "if anything" to qualify my opinion that I would be a buyer if it took out the previous high. This means I regard it as a buy but do not consider the case so overwhelming for me to take a position.

Good luck with it though.
