Back to stage one lock down in Walvis Bay

The potential for the above to happen in more highly populated countries like Britain is much greater. If we drop our guard or get sloppy we will be taking backward steps

Apparently the West Gemini will be on stand by to cover the Venus well. I guess with the delays in Angola with the commencement of the block 48 well and a two well option the Voyager will be up against it time wise. The WG is already on a long term contract with Total

More Namibian activity -

Reconnaissance Energy Africa (ReconAfrica), a junior oil and gas company engaged in the development of the newly discovered Kavango Sedimentary Basin, in northeast Namibia, announced that, with the Namibian government's guidance that further easing of COVID-19 restrictions could come as soon as June 1, and the anticipation that Namibian and international restrictions will be lifted during the summer, ReconAfrica is continuing its operational planning for the drilling of its first well in Namibia in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Deepwater is where it's at in Namibia since the new concept was realised when Total drilled the Brulpadda well offshore S/Africa, which confirmed the Aptian source rock extends from Angola all the way to S/Africa, which means through Namibia as well.

The diagram below explains the concept of the Aptian regional seal and shows the Welwitschia well miles short of the Aptian shale seal.

There are very positive and encouraging signs when we talk about the hydrocarbons sector. We have had a couple of investors that are keen on entering the market and potentially finding something,” said Hon. Tom Alweendo, Namibia’s Minister of Mines and Energy during a webinar hosted by the African Energy Chamber

Although Namibia is largely a consuming country, it hopes to grow its upstream industry, improve energy security through diversifying its energy mix. In achieving this, the country is looking forward to collaborating with the private sector to review its policies in order to attracter further investment.

Just finished watching the Frontier webinar, Total, M&P, Shell all still looking to drill. Seems wells for this year look to be moving to next year. Probably those in late 2020 I expect to move to Q1 2021. However Keith Hill still looking for Total's Venus well between August and November, delays are all lock down related (outside Namibia)

Gil again said Eco are looking to bring in a new partner. He said there are existing Namibian players interested and new players yet to take a position in Namibia. Same could be said for GBP imo

There was a question relating to the regional seal and it's importance, Keith Hill said wells that found reservoirs below this seal, all made discoveries. Daniel from Azinam said they haven't look at this in their blocks (sorry, but don't believe you Daniel ;-))

Global were mentioned in a list of early players in Namibia by Gil, but no other mention. The elephant in the room was Exxon, not one of the panel mentioned Exxon and no mention from Azinam regarding funding

Maggy Shino talked of being flexible in the current climate, which I took to mean any time being lost of life of licence would not be an issue
This was a good webinar and one designed for retail investors rather than the industry, so nothing new to take away as such, but seems Namibia very much still in play, deals still to be concluded and up coming wells in the pipe
Still very positive, the potential is still there

Edit: Keith also said companies currently planning wells are all targeting deeper plays (ie: through the regional seal)

Interesting what you find on tinternet

Shafa Kaulinge country manager for Global Petroleum in Namibia as of September 2018

Previously before Global Shafa Kaulinge:
The son of the Namibian minister of home affairs, Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, Kaulinge has business interests in the petroleum exploration industry.
His company, Amis Energy, is a partner of Pan African Oil, which holds three oil exploration licences in Namibia. Kaulinge is the country manager of Pan African Oil. As such, he is a beneficiary of government-issued licences.

September 20, 2018
Oil firm Eco Atlantic has acquired the remaining 10% of the shares of Pan Africa Oil Namibia Ltd (“PAO Namibia”) from Amis Oil and Gas Ltd (“Amis”). Following completion of the acquisition, PAO Namibia will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Eco Atlantic (PEL50)

Has anyone registered for the Frontier webinar on Thursday ?

Certainly topical discussions will include the recent Namcor, GBP farm out deal. It's the first time the State oil company has negotiated a free carry deal to first oil, the idea of first oil would require a wider deal to be unfurled, for the Namcor deal to make any kind of sense

I registered earlier, hopefully there will be note worthy comments

Strange also that Namcor have just recently replaced the old website

The NVentures link posted recently showed 12 wells in Namibia for in 2020 and a further 4-6 the following year, obviously 2020 is being shifted back, but it shows there is much going on in the back ground still, possibly in transition
