14/3/2009 01:19 | Yeah maybe you guys are right but two things stick in the craw (a) a few days ago our belligerent and incompetent Mr. Port was advising investors that if they didn't like the idea of an investment trust "they could always sell" - I guess anyone that did is going to be up in arms ie. that their MD is advising them to sell a few days before the share price jumps to new highs and they lost out; (b) The board is recommending this 190p cash offer - not surprising when you consider that Ratty and Port are members of the board. I don't know very much about this sort of thing but I know a smelly fish when I smell one and this one stinks to high heaven. Having said my piece I (like others) feel I have nowhere to go now but wait for the cheque. | chrismez
13/3/2009 20:58 | Good news. Could have been better value here for shareholders, but clearly this is game over. I will accept this time. | ![]() topvest
13/3/2009 20:49 | i think that's a much better deal for shareholders than a) the 150p dividend and the rump of a small company paying directors excessive salaries, or b) an IT investment trust run by Ratty 190p is the highest GNE has been in four years. remarkably few shares traded today I still believe the last few months revealed very dodgy practices by the Board and their advisor, Seymour Pierce. | nod
13/3/2009 17:49 | Screwed again - Ratty gets to walk away with 260p assets (at least - if not nearer 300p) for the rock bottom price of 190p. 225p would have been nearer the mark for us PI's. Anyway at least I'm no longer hostage to fortune with Ratty and Wacko Jacko. But remember our directors who week in and week out have had to abandon the plans they announced the week before and have attempted to shaft all shareholders in the process - they have made themselves a laughing stock. Good riddance. | chrismez

13/3/2009 16:08 | thanks currypata kai. got coal covered already so leaving prl! ugy looks very interesting am bullish gold and its a cashflow positive producer so might have a dabble.shg looks very interesting from historic cash position and although is at exploration stage and seems to release little info is definately worth having a closer look at. | ![]() kooba

13/3/2009 15:47 | now...what to put the money into...there's so big a field to narrow down...lets start with microgen...err nope. one to have a quick look at imho would be itm...bombed out discount to cash and might just have some very valuable i.p. in fuel cell and hydrogen motion technology [keeping my eyes open for ratcliffe!] in small mines check update in axm.met up with co the other day they are now specialising in leeching technology which could lead to major cost [and environmental] savings across industry again decent discount to cash holdings but could be a real winner. any small co ideas for reinvestment that are trading at or near cash i'd be interested. | ![]() kooba

13/3/2009 14:41 | Well I read it as a done deal I've closed my spread positions but will wait for the cash offer to close my main holdings.I think the MMs will just widen the spread if any real volume is sold. What's a few more weeks after a lifetime of holding GNE! | model635
13/3/2009 14:37 | john I just spoke with my broker and he said that if I sell 15k on the market today I will most probably get less than £1.85 per share,so what is the best way to go...? if I wait for the company to wind up would I get £ 1.90? What are you doing..??? Thank you appreciate advice... | giovannina
13/3/2009 14:14 | so guys can I go on and sell my 15k..game over..? | giovannina
13/3/2009 14:06 | Looking back, Ratty's efforts to keep the share price down become more obvious, and a holding in a minnow, GNE2 would have been nice. And yes, I was the first to shout disgrace at the cancellation of the dividend, but comparing to the performance of the rest of the shares in my portfolio over the last 9 months which has been disastrous, I just can't make myself unhappy at this news. | ken123rose
13/3/2009 14:05 | This time it really is over - 6) that a rejection of the Offer would be a time-consuming and costly exercise to undertake in respect of an offer that will inevitably become wholly unconditional. | model635
13/3/2009 13:46 | Blooming disgrace - shafted again! | ![]() dogdig
13/3/2009 13:35 | it is a done deal.vaiman has obviously accepted so they have over 50%...clever deal for ratcliffe and co not great for gne holders but the russians and associates needed the cash now and have sold control. i find it strange that ratcliffe is not conflicted here as a director but again he has the board backing to buy 260p worth of assets per share for 190p...extraordinary why they do not move to wind company up for benefit of all holders, there would definately be more in it for shareholders. | ![]() kooba
13/3/2009 13:28 | Well, it looks like the arguing is over. Mr Cawkwell, what are your thoughts on this please? | shanksaj
