Andrew - If you can trade Glencore on a daily basis you CAN make a fortune.
I suspect that some do and do just that.
I cannot due to CG woes otherwise I would be right in there.
I also make do with the now half decent dividend and hope that they get to £5 sooner rather than later. Then I will relocate 'technically' and sell the lot ASAP!

Unless I'm missing something, the price already reflects the Congo location, litigation, and other uncertainties that miners such as Glencore have to face; so, for me, this is a buy at current prices, with a nice divi to tide me along as the capital price increases, as it will nicely over time. Electric cars make good icing. :)

The injunction forbids Gertler from taking any steps in his legal action against the KCC mine, the FT said. There will be a hearing on the case in London on May 11, the newspaper said.

RBC comments yesterday correctly pointing out the copper hedge which dilutes the DRC worst case scenario impact ...Although we reduce recommendation and target price, our analysis suggests there is already a substantial amount of DRC risk in the price. Volatility is likely to remain high but we remain confident with an Outperform recommendation.Assuming Glencore's DRC assets halt production, the impact on the copper market is likely to be large, RBC predicted.Its analysis suggests the lost ;60k tonnes of copper will shift the copper market into deficit for 2018. After stripping out the DRC assets from Glencore it calculates there will be US$0.25/lb move in the copper price, which would increase Glencore's underlying earnings (Ebitda) by US$700m, which would offset nearly half of the DRC impact in RBC's worst case scenario."A worst case scenario of zero value for the DRC would still leave Glencore shares inexpensive in our view. Our numbers importantly do not include any impact from higher copper prices. Without the DRC, we would expect a premium rating could return to Glencore as its marketing business provides lower earnings volatility," RBC said.
