Do not worry....nothing is ever simple or what one expects at Geong !!

I am advised that it should be tomorrow.

But why would a Beijing-based company name itself after a transliteration of a Cantonese name? It's a bit like a British company calling itself Antonescu or Papadopoulos.

Has anyone figured out how to pronounce geong yet? It's not Chinese, I can tell you that.

The Company intends to provide a full year trading update on 20 May 2013 with the results scheduled to be announced during the second half of July 2013.

Do not panic about leverage as this is not an issue with this one and is part of a much much wider portfolio of fully paid for shares. I totally agree though that investors should be very mindful of leverage if using spreadbets.

If I were to sell any of these it would have to be done in the market as Spreadex hold the underlying stock and are unlikely to want to hold on to it for their own account if I wish to sell. I am not a trader so we shall see what the next year or so holds for us.

Just as a point of fact. According to my records I am not personally over 3% and had stayed just below the notifiable level but it appears they have another client and that person buying took them over 3% as a company but the actual notification was the first I knew about it. I have asked for clarification as clearly if I had needed to notify then I would have done it in my own name not via Spreadex.

It's the same thing.

There are no trading advantages to spreadbetting as they (the spreadbetting company)take a corresponding position.

Advantages are all in leverage (a double-edged sword with sharp edges) & tax.

David could you kindly answer a question. With spreadbets, how easy is it to liquidate a 3% holding in a tiddler like GNG? Ie with real shares you would drive down the price enormously and it would take days. Is it the same with spreadbets? Or do they offer you a price and you can get rid of 3% in one fell swoop?

Nothing is certain in life but hopefully there will be tax advantages of creating a loss, adding to ones holding and setting up a bet in Geong at this level.

Are you inferring that investing in GNG might lead to castration and death(of that portion of ones portfolio)?
Someone seems to think so.

Always worrying when they can't spell "principal" (RNS has "principle") :)

Excellent points made above. On first speed reading I failed to take in the point about the CULS being convertible "at any time" rather than simply if the loan stock wasn't repaid by the due date. The new arrangement is absurd and leaves shareholders (including the directors - assuming they aren't linked to Hanafin in any way) open to ridiculous levels of dilution for peanuts.

The CULS should be repaid immediately, end of story. If Hanafin does get its hands on any shares then explanations will be necessary - particularly from the non-execs.

As usual; an opaque RNS with more questions than answers - typically Chinese.

It stinks.
