24/1/2002 11:30 | nur0mamcer We didn't follow them up. Mind you that hasn't stopped us selling off anyway in the past. So I read it that London has priced in US rise and pull back and will now follow up or down. We're getting strength cos the US has only declined in an orderly fashion - suggesting profit taking only. | byrdsong
24/1/2002 11:25 | FTSE-Dow seem to have decoupled: whilst the Dow has retraced from ~10260 intraday high on Jan 09 to 9730 close yesterday, the FTSE has gone from ~5360 intraday high on Jan 04 to (via a slump to 5080 intraday Jan 15) ~5260 today. Thus FTSE is down 100 from recent 'bubble' high, whilst Dow is down 530! Now either the Dow must be due a whopping bounce, or FTSE is looking very precarious up here. FTSE has bounced through the Fib 61.8% level @ ~5253 (decline from 5360 to 5080). techMARK has also failed to sink at the rate of Nasdaq. Are we ahead of the States these days, or overvalued? Looks like a hefty gap-up on the Nas, but will it hold given yesterday's reaction rally and Greenspan speaking at 10am ET... | nur0mancer
