I was thinking next news should come via DNO wrt Pesh latest wells tests. They tested the triassic so in theory it could be a `new` zone (for Pesh)...

Siemens Strengthens Gas Turbine Pact in Iraq

Germany-based power generation firm Siemens will overhaul its gas turbines and upgrade blades at a power plant in Iraq’s capital city.

The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity and Siemen’s Power Generation Services Division have signed a new contract. Some of the first works include overhauling two SGT5-2000E gas turbines at the Al-Sadder facility in Baghdad.

Siemens also will perform 3-dimensional turbine blades and vanes upgrades at Al-Sadder, a 600-MW station generating electricity for about 600,000 homes. The company has worked in Iraq for more than 80 years.

“We are committed to supporting the country to strengthen its power infrastructure by offering innovative services that can be instrumental in upgrading existing facilities,” said Gianluigi Di Giovanni, Senior Executive Vice President of Siemens Power Generation Services in the Middle East and North Africa, in a statement. “The latest upgrade and maintenance services at Al-Sadder, provided in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity, will bring additional power to households, public buildings and industries.”

The upgrade project will improve the efficiency of the turbines by up to 2 percent, resulting in significant fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions, according to the Siemens release.

The agreement also includes the plant’s SPPA-T3000 control system, the supply of anti-virus solutions as well as the support from Siemens’ Remote Expert Center, which is a 24/7 online maintenance support service, enabling more efficient fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.

Siemens also has supplied SGT5-2000E gas turbines to the Khormala power plant in northern Iraq and the Baiji generating station, among other projects in the past decade.
