15/12/2010 21:57 | where is it? | eric gardener
12/12/2010 18:40 | There are 4 AVIVA prefs all cumulative but irredeemable. For some reason, presumably associated with institutional buying or selling at any point in time, the 4 prefs offer anomalous pricing opportunities. I've taken advantage in the past; and will continue to do so. Here is the current pricing. No guessing where the anomaly is in this case: # AV.A 8.75% - 113-116.5p Yld on the offer share price = 7.51% # AV.B 8.375% - 107.5-110.0p Yld on the offer share price = 7.61% # GACA 8.875% - 106.5-110.5p Yld on the offer share price = 8.03% # GACB 7.875% - 101.5-106.0p Yld on the offer share price = 7.43% | skyship
30/11/2010 17:00 | If you want a boring share join me in WKP! That one's deadly dull! | catcheemonkee
28/11/2010 21:06 | yes skyship you're right, very sensible. I own these and I intend to own them for years to come but they're boring. | eric gardener
28/11/2010 15:38 | Eric - you may not be this way again; but I'm minded to respond nevertheless: For me boring is a welcome epithet - especially when it yields 8%! If the share price stultifies but the 8%pa keeps on rolling in, then for me GACA represents a valuable asset for a corner of my SIPP. Being retired, managing my SIPP for the major part of our income and drawing down 7%pa - then to paraphrase McCawber: # Income 8% - expenditure 7% = Happiness # Income 6% - expenditure 7% = Misery I get my thrills and occasional spills elsewhere in the Markets; but am happy to hold stocks such as GACA & BBYB. Strangely even these slow moving prefs do provide occasional trading opportunities, when the share price goes anomalous for no reason other than a brain-dead institution clearing the decks. I had two such trades this year - one in AV.B; the other in BBYB. | skyship
26/11/2010 13:42 | jeeze these are boring they went ex dix and have dived ever since no good making money on divs and then the share pillaging hoplessly into the abyss is it? boring | eric gardener

23/11/2010 15:37 | good start to the new year with AV.A and GACA paying early in the new year... baby due on the 2nd Jan. wonder where i'll spend it? lol.. | pyemckay
23/11/2010 14:38 | Topped up with a few @ 111.49p today. Yld = 7.96% versus 7.59% for AV.A - yet perversely someone buying those in size today! | skyship
10/11/2010 17:26 | Eric, they're 8.875% prefs, so that means 8.875p per share per annum. Hence the half yearly payout is 4.4375p per share, with the next payment made on 1st Jan 2011. Cheers, Mark | marben100
10/11/2010 17:18 | 14 trades today. Other than one very small sale they totalled 160k bt @ mainly 112p. Yield @ 112p = 7.9%. | skyship
