It's not like you can do anything with these gems apart from wearing them or using them in a Swiss movement watch is it or am I missing something?

Sarecen3. You keep cross ramping this share and it keeps falling. You have my attention. You keep bringing up these auctions. Please can you enlighten me on who will be buying these gems at top prices in a recession?

BTW. I don't believe that natural gems are as exclusive as they once were as lab made gems are becoming more pure in all aspects and even the best experts in the world are having difficulties in telling them apart.

Also, lab made gems are high quality, less impact on the environment and are much cheaper to make. The youth of today are way more Greta and this is why I believe natural gemstones will depreciate in value year on year because you will not be able to tell them apart?

The Gemfields dividend, 1.3p London, 25c S Africa is paid tomorrow.

Am expecting some holders to reinvest the dividend back into shares ahead of the 2

big auctions in May and June.

Looks like a seller, staff options, has finished and a buyer has mopped up a couple of million shares at 360cents. Buyer could be Assore, 26% holder topping up as this is the same price they paid for much of their stake.

Cum a 1.3p dividend and more cash likely to be returned to shareholders, could be £40m after sale of Sedibelo Platinum stake in next few months.

Liberum have a 34p target so 80% upside.

Delighted to hear this. Emerald auction in May and ruby auction in June should be very strong. If you bought around then you will be ok as 19p = 36p.

I finally located my Pallinghurst share certificate and it seems I have 11460 shares. Now I am really taking notice of the share price! I probably bought them in 2009 and I have no idea if I'm in profit, but at this point I don't really care.

Gemfields - Another set of record auction results - Gemfields rich run of form continues with its highest ever auction result in commercial quality emeralds, generating $42.3m at an average price per carat of $9.37/ct, this compares to the next best result last summer of $23.1m at $6.61/ct. Gemfields is now in an excellent position with balance sheet repaired, investing in a 200% increase in washplant capacity at Montepuez and a market in coloured gemstones that appears even stronger than diamonds.

NB the timing of this auction – from mid-March to start April – suggests pricing unaffected by Russia/Ukraine. Relevant for both Gemfields and all the diamond names (Petra, Gem Diamonds in our coverage)
