I'd guess there are some big write downs to come for the Acuant acquisition.
That deal looks a disaster. No shareholders tried to stop them, they ponied up £300m to let them buy at the top of the market. |
SP at multi year lows now. |
Aegon NV from the Netherlands have took a 5.011% holding in GBG. |
What was the market cap at the time? |
Hi AISHAH,
The day before (5th Sept)the news of the possible offer surfaced the share price was about 445p.
On the 6th of September it rose to over £5. |
Mkt cap £782m at present. What was it at the time of the bid? |
The EP lot that tried to buy it last year can have another go, if they want, after their lock-out period ends on 4 April. |
Well done Nick getting the company to almost £10 and then to it's next level I'm sure you will be rewarded |

How is it that gbg shareprice has remained so resilient despite the recent gloomy trading update and then this market chaos - I can only conclude that there is some positive news ahead for the company - just my gut feeling! |
Doubt if there will be any quick fix for gbg sure it ls nice to see inside dealings but it will take more than that to send share price north - seems only a bid would do that and in current tech environment that wont be any time soon |
Bad news seems to be in the price now. Lets see if the CEO buys more down here. |
Good to see the chairman has purchased 29,876 shares. |
Yesterdays share price movement definitely was a big surprise to me! Just how did the price hold up with such a disappointing trading statement and with the nasdaq tanking plus general market negativity. I really was expecting sub 3 pounds! I can only assume something positive for GBG is on the horizon but for now I will observe from the sidelines |
One could argue that the meagre revenue increase of c4% has been paid for by the the purchase of Acuant at c.GBP547 million. At this rate it's going to take virtually forever for payback despite synergy savings. I wonder how long it's going to take before asset value of Acuant is written down. |
It looks like the market had built in the impact of the maco economics and thus no huge impact on the share price |
Technology! |
Why is this share loved so much! |
Meagre revenue growth even 12 months after the acquisition of North American Acuant....yet the PE still reflects High growth multiples. |
Alas more neg news from gbg will be surprised if it holds 300p - it can regain its mojo but when?? Patience is over-stretched now with this once apon a time gem - maybe all good things do come to an end but for now I will transition to the sidelines & observe |
No and I only expect it to close about 5% down. |
Will it break below £3.00 on a smack down today, one wonders? |
Thanks for the correction.
Not good news but not a disaster. |
£279m of revenue now forecast actually, but still not good. |
