AGM 24 Apr. Could do with a new BOD

......one that can make a profit and deliver shareholder returns instead of robbing us at every opportunity.

Did anyone see a mention of a target that has been met to justify the BOD stealing £260,000 in bonuses on top of their bloated salaries and undeserved share options?

I fail to see how decimating the share price from £4 (10p) to £1.30 (3p) can justify the incompetent thieves getting anything other than drastic pay cuts and P45s.

Nod, the current policy is that the UK will switchover to digital when there is 90% coverage and >50% listenership. However, I have a feeling that the Govt will be lobbied by the likes of the BBC and will go down the hybrid device route as an interim solution, like Italy and France. Either way, it will be quids in for Frontier.

I thought the purpose was to free up FM bandwidth for other uses. I suppose this approach may free up air space by attrition but take a lot longer. Good for DAB though.

The BBC's suggestion to go for a hybrid approach sounds similar to France and Italy's policy on DAB, ie all radios to combine FM and DAB by circa 2020. From Frontier's PoV, that is as good as a switchover.

It would not surprise me to see the Govt pursuing something similar once we cross the 50% listener threshold, which should be in the next few months going by the last figures (49%).

That would be a halfway-house option before moving to a switchover at a later date. Either way, it would be good news for Frontier as they have been supplying modules to the likes of Pure for over 15 years for DAB/FM sets, like the iconic Evoke:

PS. Enjoy the Spring Equinox.

Good news for radio listeners. Not such good news for FST holders.

BBC halts FM radio switch off

The BBC has cancelled its planned FM radio switch off with concerns that not enough listeners have made the switch to Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) radios...

FST shareholders have been robbed blind yet again. No wonder we have never made a profit - this is sickening and disgusting:

Directors’ bonuses payable at 31 December 2017 are £260,979 (2016: £nil).

The remuneration of the Directors for the year ended 31 December 2017 is as follows:2017 (2016)
Fees and emoluments £’000 (£’000)
Mr A Sethill 266 (276)
Mr J Apps 215 (223)

What, if anything, does Johnny Appetites actually contribute to earnings? Why is he so overpaid and why has he been gifted so many unmerited share options?

It is time to finally insist that FST is run for the benefit of shareholders and not as a piggy bank for AS, JA & the other BOD parasites. The dishonest imbeciles on the corrupt remuneration committee must be replaced by shareholders who are prepared to ensure that shareholders are not robbed & exploited by the greedy & dishonest BOD.

I think the rate of growth is unknown. Personally I expect it to take off, but in the next year or two, not the next month or two - I could be wrong and it takes off next month or in reverse it could never take off.

Thanks Mark. So, we should not hope for much growth in smart audio this year. Our revenue growth in smart audio was from 0.5 to 4.7 m. I was hoping for a similar revenue growth this year. A prediction of "modest growth" across the whole business is not too exciting given we made a net loss.

My understanding... The Smart Audio market is only just beginning and it is beginning by sales of the core devices - Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomePod. Frontier's technology isn't used in these core devices, but in 3rd party devices which inter-operate with those core devices (or in many cases work standalone) and which are only just becoming available. The sales of those (and Smart Audio in general) will take time to ramp up. It's all very new, we have to be patient waiting for the market to (hopefully) take off.

I'm still puzzled by the Outlook statement. I had expected strong revenue growth this year given our new products in Smart Audio. Is FST suggesting the market is near its peak and overall market growth will be modest?"Outlook for FY 2018 -- In FY 2018, the Board expects to see modest growth in revenues and EBITDA, as the Group continues to invest in Smart Audio"

It looks as if the shorters are still playing with this stock following the update; it will pass.

The link shows an extension to the UK multiplex trial, keeping smaller broadcasters on air until 2020 when the permanent licenses kick in. The more broadcasters there are, the more listeners will be attracted to DAB:

Not sure it's upgraded ("no material changes to our forecasts") but price targets do now seem to be in the higher range of 191p-242p. Make of that what you want!

Frontier Smart’s FY’17 results show a strong year of growth with excellent cash generation, as flagged in January. Group revenue grew 28% to £41.0m while adj. EBITDA grew 171% to £1.9m (N+1Se: £1.8m). Both divisions performed well, with Digital Radio boosted by the FM switch-off in Norway and Smart Audio recording its first material revenues in the year. Strong free cash flow of £4.2m resulted in net cash at the year end of £3.0m (N+1Se: £1.7m). We make no material changes to our forecasts and continue to expect the group to benefit from rapid growth in the 3rd party Smart Audio market. Our intrinsic value range of 191p – 242p offers plenty of upside, with potential for further value creation as the Smart Home market establishes itself.
