08/3/2018 15:34 | If SHY had stayed at IMG they probably would have held on to their investment in FST which has gone up multiples. Also Apple didnt abandon IMG until a few years after he left if I recall correctly. | amt
08/3/2018 13:35 | Nod - the overall loss is possibly down to a 7.1m loss in smart audio. Not happy to see SHY anywhere near my investment, after the complete fiasco he made of IMG. What a contrast SHY and AS make - one the perennial optimist and the other relentlessly downbeat. | rob_evans
08/3/2018 11:17 | Loss for the year from continuing operations (1,897) (1,439) I expected a loss, although got the cold shoulder a few months ago for suggesting a loss. However, I thought the loss should be lower than last year given the revenue growth, Even cynical me is surprised that loss this past year is higher than last, Is it down to expenses again? Sethill always seems to spend more than profit. | nod
08/3/2018 11:14 | I think the outlook is a case of under-promise, over-deliver. Our card has been marked re DAB now the bump in revenue from the Norway switchover is finished, but there could be a boost from France as coverage goes nationwide this year. France and Italy have both said that all radios will come with DAB as standard from 2020, so we may see manufacturers who supply those countries making hybrid sets in advance of that date, perhaps starting this year. There is caution about the take up of smart audio but that seems to be because the market is at so early a stage they simply have no idea how quickly it will grow. If it takes off like a rocket then we are in over-deliver territory. I am confident that smart audio will have rapid growth, especially in the second half when multi-voice assist devices, courtesy of Frontier, become available. As for Hossein's appointment, I have mixed feelings. If his role is to make use of his innumerable contacts in the tech industry to help Frontier get a foot in the door with potential customers, then that is good news. If his role is to expand the business through acquisitions then it is very bad news! I suspect it is the former and if he has strategic ideas on how to grow the business organically too, eg the announced move into smart home devices, then so much the better. He is a true visionary but was unable to run a company day to day. His role as a non-exec therefore suggests his role is purely advisory, while the execs will hold the purse strings. If his appointment had been as Chairman I would have been more nervous. The CEO is cautious by nature but that has paid off in the last year, as he has focused the firm on DAB and the new smart audio market. Short-term the share price will take a hit, but long-term the future continues to look very bright, IMO. | life of crime
08/3/2018 11:04 | Oops too quick on the trigger and no edit on iPad ... it looks that way re a boardroom bust up. Usually a bad signal for PIs. | nod
08/3/2018 10:59 | It looks that way. | nod
08/3/2018 09:42 | I'm happy with the financial statement, it is what was expected. Nice to see Google, Amazon and Apple mentioned in the statement. Nice to see them mention their expected Smart Audio timescale ("build scale over a two to three-year time horizon"). Not sure what to make of the board changes. Patience... The Smart Audio revolution has only just begun, and the products that Frontier's technology are/will be included in follow on from the sales of the core Smart Audio devices (Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomePod). | mark4231
08/3/2018 09:39 | That's what I did with TMZ :) now a bit poorer with that strategy. | nod
08/3/2018 09:11 | Yes good to hear HY is on board even though his record at IMG was a bit patchy towards the end. This company is about voice controlled systems but its going to be a couple of years before we see this become the main part of the business. Still modest valuation should help on the downside. | amt
08/3/2018 08:51 | I suspect Prem Rajalingham would make a great CEO. Smart guy. | chillpill
08/3/2018 08:17 | Clearly has been a boardroom bust up. Personally think AS is on thin ice at this point in time. Having said that I think there are lots of positives but the CEO is meant to be the most positive person in an organisation. AS is clearly not that. In need of a new leader. | chillpill
08/3/2018 08:09 | YER - what board shareholders, not many small PI welcome him. A number of shareholders had indicated that they would welcome Hossein's return to Frontier given his in-depth knowledge of the sector and the business as a whole. We are therefore delighted that he has accepted our offer to join the Board. His understanding of the business, its markets and the opportunities that lie ahead are important assets, which will be a significant benefit as we embark on our next phase of development and growth." | blueteam
08/3/2018 08:08 | Good results and down nearly 6% (so far). Time to add? Hang on - didn't I do that disastrously once or twice before! (edit) Down over 8% - now this is getting silly. | folderboy
08/3/2018 08:05 | Glad I got out near the highs | nw99
08/3/2018 08:00 | HY a coup !!!!!!!!!!!!! You have absolutely no clue pal what you are talking about - research MIPS, Hellosoft, Greenplug, Caustic etc etc etc My investment here has been an unmitigated disaster, hearing HY was appointed is like twisting the knife S | sweenoid
08/3/2018 07:45 | It seems any results and forward projections that are anything but amazing ends up with the price getting hammered. For me this is a share to forget about and put away for a few years. If there is a major drop today there might be a purchase. Will wait to see what happens on opening today. | petes5
08/3/2018 07:21 | Good results but seems a very low key 'going forward' statement. Fear a little further fall in the share price is likely | folderboy
08/3/2018 07:17 | Outlook for 2018 not as positive as I had hoped for, reiterating modest growth and some caution in smart speaker growth. I had hoped for more sign up deals announced too. Sir Hossein Yassaie As the former CEO of Imagination Technologies is quite a coup even if it is as a NED and I like the point about various stakeholders expressing interest in him joining the board. | john09

03/3/2018 16:42 | Some reviews of the current third-party Google Assistant speakers: I liked the comment that a lot more devices are expected this year. I think the multiple assistant products, powered by FST, will move this market in the second half of the year. | life of crime

28/2/2018 12:05 | I question whether we can stay independent by end 2019 ... strongly suspect not. | the drewster
28/2/2018 00:17 | When I asked Siri how many smart speakers have been sold, she said she didn't understand that. When I asked Alexa this is what she came up with:https://techcru | nod
27/2/2018 17:48 | More evidence that even entry-level cars around the world are packing DAB as standard: | life of crime |
