07/6/2018 17:17 | Sonos float should spark interest here. Why frontier is not involved in that Sonos speaker with VPA I’ve no idea. Very disappointing | john09
07/6/2018 16:34 | I sold out of here with the recent trading update - just keeping an eye on things for now. Anyway, thought this article regarding Sonos on the BBC website would be of interest. | mark4231

24/5/2018 23:30 | Amazon's Alexa recorded private conversation and sent it to random contact The company, which has insisted its Echo devices aren’t always recording, has confirmed the audio was sent Sam Wolfson Thu 24 May 2018 23.09 BST First published on Thu 24 May 2018 21.32 BST No matter how suspicious it has seemed that Amazon is encouraging us to put listening devices in every room of our homes, the company has always said that its Echo assistants are not listening in on or recording conversations. Over and over again, company spokespeople have promised that they only start recording if someone says the wake word: “Alexa”. It’s a spiel Danielle, an Alexa user from Portland, Oregon, had believed. She’d installed Echo devices and smart bulbs in every room in her house, accepting Amazon’s claims that they were not invading her privacy. But today she asked the company to investigate after an Alexa device recorded a private conversation between her and her husband and sent it to a random number in their address book without their permission. | aishah
24/5/2018 06:12 | At least the shares were not highly rated and now at less than one times annual turnover look very cheap if there is any growth going forward. Look like an obvious takeover play. | amt
24/5/2018 06:05 | Our medium term objective is to deploy our technologies in other non-audio smart home devices." From finals. Is this still the case or have they abandoned non audio devices? | amt
23/5/2018 22:29 | RNS has "The reduced expectations for FY-2018 are due to the following:"They then have three paragraphs about Norway sales throughout 2017, which is history rather than a forward view. They highlight that Norway sales were up only modestly in the quarter before Christmas Q4-2017 and was a significant tail off from previous quarters. That would suggest that Norway is pretty much done and now well in the past. So, why focus on Norway for 2018?I feel that the Norway focus is another red herring. An attempt to place reduced forward sales on something that mostly occurred during 2017. | nod
23/5/2018 21:18 | I would look to buy in sub 80. If it doesnt go below, i wont buy.best to buy when completely hammered , atm its still falling knife stage. | escapetohome
23/5/2018 15:47 | Well, I did not see that coming. Very disappointing. I am losing patience with the board, as I am sure the IIs are, especially as they hardly under reward themselves. AS and JA must be really nervous. I think the price drop is overdone and obviously shorters are onboard when you see the volumes. It looks as if the Norway switchover flattered last year's figures for DAB and they cannot match it in 2018. Smart Audio take-off for 3rd party has been pushed into 2019, so this year is a write-off. At least they have cut spending and expanded the debt facility. I think the picture for DAB is still bright, given the moves in Italy and France to make DAB standard from circa 2020 and the Swiss switchover around the same time. With digital radio listening in the UK now over the 50% mark I can see the govt launching a review into our switchover or whether to go down the French route. I still think the mid-term picture is strong but this year looks awful. I expect the IIs are fuming at another FST/TMZ setback and would not be surprised to see AS go (I just hope they do not replace him with Hossein Yassaie!). Another possibility is a bidder will see this short term situation as an opportunity to snap them up on the cheap, so goodbye to my long-term £5 target! If there was a bid this year we would be lucky to get £2, as the biggest IIs have been here for years and must be getting sick of this. Like the rest of us, they must be tiring of serial disappointments. I am still holding as I bought my shares when they were cheap, but am now expecting to breakeven rather than make the big profits I had hoped for. Something needs to change at FST. One way of saving costs would be for the CEO and CFO to cut their considerable salaries. Don't hold your breath. | life of crime

23/5/2018 14:09 | A very tight market with these do news (good or bad) has big price impact. Smashed through stop loss so do you sell or sit tight? Hmmmm | essential
23/5/2018 12:12 | I am a sucker for a big faller, and have just bought in. Let see what happens. | taylor swift
23/5/2018 11:02 | Sharewatch bought into these and have recommended them as a buy a few times. What happened to their research and meeting with the management.Shocking | 1squintyflinty
23/5/2018 10:36 | Jules it is a classic case of hiding bad news until you cannot hide it any longer. Must confess that when I saw the share price drop I thought it was worse. Another underperforming tech stock.... | wad collector
23/5/2018 09:48 | Perhaps it just a case of demand holding up but squeezed margins.. seems a bit of an overreaction even with FST/TMZ's track record of underachieving. | rollthedice
23/5/2018 09:25 | WTF happened to all this from their march update? " Strong performance in Radio, especially in the first half, driven by switch-off of FM radio in Norway, coupled with steady growth in other European markets · In Smart Audio, over 20 models released incorporating the Group's solution with Google Chromecast · Working demonstrations of Frontier's Smart Audio solutions, incorporating Google's Voice Assistant, Amazon's Alexa Voice Services and Apple AirPlay 2, presented at the CES tradeshow in January 2018 · Ten design wins secured for devices incorporating Frontier's Smart Audio solution with Google's Voice Assistant with first products to be released in 2018" Don't we get something, anything, from the sensium deal back in April too? Not even a mention - "2nd April 2018 - Agreement will see the Sensium system deployed as standard of care throughout the whole hospital." | juleshoddy
23/5/2018 09:24 | Wrong thread | chillpill
23/5/2018 09:17 | Nod, no they're not in the Amazon and Google products (as per my understanding). They have the technology to go into third party products which can interact with the first party products. | mark4231
23/5/2018 09:16 | Have held for years, through the healthcare stuff and so on but it's always "it'll be better soon" but it never is. I can see this trading sideways for a while and maybe come good at some point but for me, I've lost patience and have just sold out completely. I will continue to hang around and monitor so might come back in but it would be at a higher price in reaction to solid good news. | mark4231
23/5/2018 09:03 | Ouch! If there is an "aggressive" price war, wouldn't that be good for sales volumes and possibly affect the manufacturers' margins rather than the component suppliers, like FST?"Frontier's focus is on providing third-party brands with solutions". Does this mean we are are not in the first-party products?I had been led to believe we were in with Amazon and Google. | nod
23/5/2018 08:49 | Well there are undoubtedly a few “bad bits” in that TS and the warning signals have been there. The MM who deals with FST offered me 70p before open then 85p which was above the mid price so assume this will rise a little from here. It’s a buy and hold for me now. It moves on news either way a great deal | john09
23/5/2018 08:45 | This is the bad bit: Currently, the major technology companies are engaged in an aggressive battle for market position. Their strategic promotional approaches have limited the ability of third-party brands to gain significant market traction this year. This has had a negative impact on Frontier's addressable market and the Board therefore expects growth in the Group's Smart Audio revenues in FY-2018 to be slower than previously anticipated. Translation: The mega exciting growth is meant to come from smart speakers and because the big boys are piling them high and selling them low the third party vendors aint getting a look in. With this slowing down it gets back to the being a company that makes stuff in digital radios. Hence the drop and de-rating | andygibb101 |
