Silver up over 4% now. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see it break thro $30 within the next two weeks.

It may not constitute anywhere near the size of his Bank of America holding, but given he has been through many recessions and periods of general volatility in his long, long investment career, it is a noteworthy purchase nonetheless IMO - but he is not perfect, so it may turn out to be one of his few errors - we will see soon enough. I remain bullish on gold and silver myself anyway and have a 10 year horizon here regardless. Let's see what the next few weeks bring. Surely bumpy?! GLA.

I believe Buffett spent approx $565m on Barrick Gold whose market cap is currently approx $37 billion.

BRK is capped at $500 billion, Buffets $500m gold allocation is a tiny 0.1%. Its the same as someone with a £10k account buying a tenners worth of gold.

I expect Buffett buying a stake in Barrick won't do the rest of us any harm.
Not a normal move for BH.

Silver up 7% yesterday down 3% today. This volatility is going to become the norm. Silver daily ATR has increased by over 300% in the last month.

Only twice in its history has fres had 5 consecutive monthly rises. The first being in 2010 during its ascent to the 2011 high.

Monthly candle sizes show how small yesterday's pullback was compared to historic volatility.

Thanks. ATR is '286', says trader536 above, implying a bumpy ride. Is ATR a measure of bumpiness i.e. a range of volatility? If it was at 986 would that be 'better' or smoother? Maybe I should just look it up ....

Average True Range - from the well known tome 'Trading for Twonks'.

If it ain't in the book, it can't be right or real in some people's view.

I was initially dismissive of the virus, but being a trader one can change ones stance from long to short or vice versa in the blink of an eye.

When the mine closure RNS lands these will be a gift

I think people will find I called this correctly.

The blind idiots who buried their heads in the sand in denial and used the filter button will evidently be the losers.

If the RNS lands in the morning it may be too late to get out.

Statements take time to prepare, the government announcement was only yesterday, maybe FRES directors were busy with other commitments. I'd think we'll get and announcement soon enough.

trader365

Theres high risk of a RNS dropping at FRES informing of a production halt. Its possibly wise to increase exposure to silver miners that have already halted production, then switch to FRES after production halt announcement.

It’s unclear whether production has been halted at FRES, Q1 production report due on 29th April will provide clarity

trader365

If it’s your opinion production is going ahead then you have nothing to worry bout by holding FRES, it just so happens that I’m of the opinion that mining has halted, which is supported by research links that I posted, there is no false or misleading statements, just statements that people with opposing opinion don’t want to hear

And obviously the 'research links' said no such thing, as was pointed out to him, and he ignored it. Which started the 10423 post and everything subsequently. Read his stuff, study the charts, but bear in mind he serves himself.
