Restructuring Economic and industry forecasts indicate a prolonged impact from Covid-19 on the UK economy and more specifically the construction sector. Although the Construction Products Association's most recent forecast anticipates the residential construction market will recover during 2021, output in 2021 is forecast to be approximately 20% lower than in 2019. Accordingly, we are taking steps to restructure the Group's operations in line with the anticipated decline in medium-term demand. In the coming weeks we will consult with employees on our plans, which include proposed changes to shift patterns and adjustments to the size and structure of support functions. Additionally, these proposals include consolidating the manufacture of all precast concrete flooring products at our Hoveringham facility in Nottinghamshire. This proposal will necessitate the mothballing of our hollowcore flooring manufacturing facility at Swadlincote in Derbyshire once the current order book is completed. These proposals will not affect our ability to service key customers or our specialist precast concrete facility at Swadlincote. These actions, if implemented, will regrettably lead to the loss of approximately 225 jobs, primarily from our concrete products facilities.

Yep 2020 is lost year, hard to predict , could sell off on results/update , but could also jump on the view its expected and the worst is out, really all about what can be achieved in 2021 and that suggest substantial upside - I hope.

Good luck edmundshaw, you're a brave person. I feel that Forterra will eventually be okay, of all the sectors that have suffered recently, brick makers will emerge okay. Unsure about banks, insurance outfits and obviously retailers, but whatever happens to the UK economy, we still need bricks. Simples...

LGEN CEO interviewed this morning on https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000j0vt from 30:30 Legal and General have £1 trillion in assets. One of the big things the CEO sees after this COVID is that the UK needs to invest to reboot the economy, and housing is his number one suggestion (and L&G owns three housebuilders). On top of that, planning has never been so easy to obtain... Meanwile there is 60% upside here to reach recent highs. I added today on the drop.

Thrump & Co: I return to my oft repeated mantra from a little after FORT IPO'd in 2016: Britain needs houses. Houses need bricks. It really is as simple as that. A pandemic is obviously horrible stuff, but my mantra (I believe) still holds true. June/July seems sensible, I would think that by that time the country we live in will be doing its best to return to normal Whatever normal then means. Go well all posters and lurkers on this thread... d.

hTTps://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk/news/view/forterra-looks-to-july-for-full-resumption "...we plan to fire up kilns ready to start production at one of our brick manufacturing facilities next week. Also next week, we shall recommence production of our hollowcore product at Bison Precast in Swadlincote.” He continued: “We expect this to be followed by the reopening of two more plants in May. Due to the current high inventory levels we anticipate that the majority of our plants will reopen during June and July."

Will add if this slumps below 200p. Could possibly revisit 180p but can't see it staying below 200p for very long unless economic shut down extends past June. 2020 will be a lost year, suspect it will become all about the ability or not to return to normal in 2021. But surely plenty of upside if one can be patient.
