15/4/2014 14:13 | FSJ are already busy with their new vessel supporting offshore wind: "£3m new generation vessel could soon be based in Grimsby as first charter is underway from town port By Grimsby Telegraph | Posted: April 15, 2014 By David Laister A FIRST mission for a new generation of offshore wind vessel, built with military expertise and industry know-how, is being completed out of Grimsby, underlining the town's operations and maintenance credentials. RES Offshore secured the maiden charter of SMV1, to be named Dart Fisher at a future date, as the company embarked on the first operations and maintenance visit to the Round Three Dogger Bank meteorological masts. And the owner of the £3.8-million vessel, James Fisher Marine Services, anticipates one of a fleet of six to be built could be permanently based in the town, as it was revealed a minimum of 40 boats will use Grimsby as the summer work campaign begins. The 26-metre catamaran can take three 20ft containers as well as 12 engineers out to the furthest offshore wind farms the UK has plans for. Andy Nattrass, marine operations project manager for James Fisher, said: "This is a multi-role vessel not limited to one task. We see it as a Swiss Army Knife, we can put different equipment that we own or the client owns, to perform many different roles. "Whatever is in those containers we can support," he said. "If people are living in them, they can be plumbed and plugged in, if it is for divers we can take a decompression chamber. It could be cranes." Major upgrades to Port of Grimsby East's lock gates means the largest vessel of its kind to see Grimsby can now be facilitated, regardless of tide time. etc" | ![]() rivaldo

11/4/2014 08:33 | rivaldo, As you say, FSJ is at the forefront of things being done on and under the sea. The pace of change in the "last frontier" is accelerating as technology and invention solve more of the problems associated with a relatively untameable environment: an environment which, of necessity, we must exploit. The potential in the markets that FSJ operates in is still enormous . | ![]() roddiemac2
11/4/2014 07:15 | News of a "significant" contract win.... "Fenders for defence 10 Apr 2014 UK Norfolk based Fendercare Marine, supplier of marine products and services, has won a significant contract to supply Yokohama fenders to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). The three year contract is for the supply of 3.3m x 6.5m Yokohama original pneumatic fenders 18 of which have been supplied to date, with potentially more to follow. Fendercare Marine has been working closely with the MoD to design a protective tyre net which would not only be non-marking to the ship's hull but would provide minimal fender maintenance issues. 10/4/2014 08:46 | I love FSJ's strategy and the way they anticipate the way the maritime industry is going - there's all sorts of news flow showing that they're at the forefront of things. Firstly, I was interested to see this from Thalassa's RNS this morning: "We believe that AUVs will revolutionise the way seismic data will be collected in the not too distant future and believe that we are at the forefront of developments in this exciting new industry." Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) are an area where FSJ have been rapidly building their expertise and presence globally. FSJ have also just bought a ship to enhance their support operations for the renewables sector amongst others: ""We are pleased to be able to offer this highly flexible offshore support vessel, to provide efficient and potentially cost-saving operation and maintenance solutions," commented Andy Nattrass, marine operations project manager for James Fisher Marine Services. "This service is likely to be particularly of interest to the fast-growing offshore wind energy sector, for which we are able to combine it with bespoke innovations such as our 'Ship-to-Turbine' oil transfer concept, an innovative and cost-effective method of exchanging gearbox and hydraulic oils for offshore wind farms. Whether providing services in marine renewable energy in this way, supporting offshore oil and gas operations, or enabling surveying and diving operations, the new SMV 24 vessel provides a highly flexible, multi-role capability that sets a new benchmark in offshore support."" And FSJ's Osiris division have completed a world first training course to help with offshore wind and other offshore activities in general: | ![]() rivaldo

04/4/2014 09:32 | Good luck and thanks battlebus, hope everything's OK. I'll continue to hold. FSJ is on a global growth trajectory and appears to have an extremely supportive shareholder base in the City now. It wouldn't surprise me to see some more very big contract wins for Fendercare in particular. | ![]() rivaldo
