A few small buys today. Still think it's worth tucking some away at this price.

@mdalos1 : "..paying down its Debt along the way.." - well, no.
They are not making all their debt repayments from cash flow and they are not covering all of their costs so eventually the cash will run out!!

Dave,

And another new low today!

It doesn't look good and even at this low price FDI are valued at £22 million!

Agreed don't see any reason why we can't at least be slightly positive from here. A few decent stones and it will fly.

Let's hope?

Sometimes people, especially commentators, are reactive rather than proactive.

Perhaps behind the curve?

Plaudits to Shareprophets.

A snippet from broker recommendations for AIM companies taken recently:

"Of the 125 AIM shares tipped by brokers, 118 were firmly in positive territory, and only 1 received negative consensus sentiment. The one sell? Firestone Diamonds (FDI)"

mdalos,

They should name a film after that!

The hero arrives in Lesotho to try and solve the mystery of the missing diamonds, but leaves, like all before him, defeated and dejected.

Anyone remember European Diamonds?

mdalos,

I fear there will never be a return on an investment here.

mdalos,

LOL!

Sadly they are "protecting the brand", diamonds are never sold to the public, look at the price if a 9ct gold (75% copper) diamond ring in a jewellery shop and the price FDI are receiving per carat!

I was reading that in SA the police go undercover to try and trap anyone trying to buy a diamond on the black market, such as in pubs along the cape coast. The penalties are severe.

AB,

Yes that's what I was alluding to, they could manage the grade if required.

I doubt shareholders would have a problem with that.

Andy, you are correct re the "lucky" aspect of this.
Given the diamonds are valued on site prior to export I guess they can "withdraw" some parcels of low quality diamonds if it is likely that the price would be below US$70 if they were included.

Some quite adding to holding going on at this price I suspect

AB,

Good spot, I guess it's 'lucky' they managed to just comply with that!

I guess ABSA probably don't want to own a diamond mine in Lesotho so will probably cut the some lack if need be.

On closer reading of the Final Results, it seems the Q4 diamond sales did see the average diamond price drop to US$71/carat - is that strike 1 against the ABSA debt?

Maybe a few have been held back for the next update...we live in hope.

-------

dave,

That would be very naughty if they have!

People are making decisions based on announced RNS results, if they are holding back stones as you suggest, it would be misleading the market. would it not?

I sincerely hope that is not the case, and I'm sure it's not.
