22/2/2006 14:38 | I already wondered about yesterday's share price movement. | dutch dexter
22/2/2006 12:13 | Good timing on the old share sale. Nice to bag a couple of million at a huge profit over cost. Should help with organic growth and additional aquisition and lowers the exposure to FOGL's share price (although this is part of the fun). | ![]() britishbear
22/2/2006 11:43 | Only 135p? | ![]() grgkecer
22/2/2006 07:24 | Exploration - What Is Happening In The Falklands? | ![]() grgkecer
17/2/2006 16:47 | To be expected i suppose. Could see a greater drop still before the farm in announcement. Depends on the timeframe. But it would be guessing. If i wanted to sell (i don't) i'd rather wait till the announcement is made and sell into greater strength. | dutch dexter
17/2/2006 16:31 | BOING!!! Not worried to be honest as until Farm In or other firm and progressive news both companies will bounce about a bit. | keithfagan
17/2/2006 15:13 | A good farm-in partner for FOGL will do as well as / better than a takeover. | ![]() grgkecer
17/2/2006 14:00 | The FOGL press release stating that no approach has been made will knock a few % of FKL I am sure. Hmmm. RAB still up strongly though - hard to know what is going on here. | ![]() britishbear
16/2/2006 16:33 | FKL has 8.33million shares in issue. At the present sharepice of 480p this gives a market cap. of £40.0 mil. There are two potential upsides aside from the speculative invesments in FOGL (16.8mill@176p = £29.6million) and FGML (11.25mill shares @15.5p =£1.7million): (1) Contribution of PHFC (2) Extra business generated by commodity exploration in the Falklands However, neither of these two effects seem likely to dominate given the huge contribution of the FOGL holdings to FKL's market cap. If we assume that FKL will make a post-tax profit of 1m in the next financial year (a little optimistic) and assume that it should return 4.5% on its market cap. We can infer a fair value market cap of: £22.2million [ie. (1m/4.5)*100)] Assume that FGML will get nowhere and should be written off FKL market cap = 22.2 [ie Share price of 266p] This would suggest that the FOGL holding is presently valued at: 40.0-22.2 = £17.8 million - this is just over half price and suggests that FKL has gone up more than proportionatly with FOGL in recent days. If the FKL price is going to maintain an inferred value for its FOGL holding of around 50% market value then this is overbought. However, 50% is rather steep so this might just be a sign that the discount in the future will be less. | ccorton
16/2/2006 16:31 | That's better. | ![]() grgkecer

16/2/2006 10:35 | Bartok10 - thanks for giving us the history of FKL. Interesting. | ![]() whackford
15/2/2006 04:19 | Shares of the Falkland Islands Company were listed on the Stock Exchange until the early 1970's when it was taken over by Dundee Perth Securities. I held shares at that time. As it was taken private the FIC shares were delisted. Dundee was then taken over by the Coalite Group which in turn was taken over by Anglo United Developmemts. Anglo spun off its holding in FIC to its shareholders. By this means the Falklands Company again went public and the shares were relisted on the Stock Exchange after an absence of some 30 years. The original company was incorporated by Royal Charter of Queen Victoria in 1851. | bartok10
14/2/2006 18:37 | Figures: FKL own 16,803,000 shares (18.3%) in FOGL that are now worth £28,565,000 approximately. The book value is £2.7 million. That is some difference. When FOGL and FGML had a total value of £21million the NAV of FKL was £3.74 a share. The total value now must be close to £30m which gives a considerably higher NAV than £3.74. My back of the envelope calculation gives a current NAV of approximately £5. Therefore FKL is trading below NAV, it is a profitable business that pays a good dividend and will also benefit from Rockhopper, DES and others where the employees and survey crews all need to stay somewhere and eat drink and be merry (most of them owned by FKL). Just need those damn squid to up there game and for people to still use the Portsmouth Ferry. | ![]() britishbear
14/2/2006 13:07 | andy. Hopefully as nothing worse than an unsubstantiated rise like this as the fall always hurts. | keithfagan
14/2/2006 11:28 | keith, Really on the move now, and no supporting ramping type posts! There must surely be an announcement from FOGL soon? | ![]() andy
14/2/2006 11:15 | Amazing biswell this appears to be ramping itself by telepathy!!! BTW this is the ORIGINAL Falklands stock. | keithfagan
13/2/2006 20:29 | BB, I told you to keep it quiet! ps Don't forget the Portsmouth Harbour Ferry Co.! | ![]() andy
13/2/2006 20:06 | Another over ramped Falklands stock B | biswell
13/2/2006 20:05 | Must be my ramping on the FOGL board :-)) Actually I must go back and work out the constituant parts of the FKL share price. i.e. Cash, FOGL stake, FGML stake etc. Anyone have the figures to hand? | ![]() britishbear
13/2/2006 20:04 | BB, Yes a rare day when both stocks moved together. | ![]() andy
13/2/2006 19:59 | At least today the two are moving together - FKL should always provide a good opportunity to profit on FOGL rises ahead of the game. There is no reason this share will not return to the £7 levels - FGML is a disaster but even that share is off its lows with all the RAB goings on. Hope the squid are looking up. | ![]() britishbear
13/2/2006 17:07 | keith, FOGL up today to 150p, an all time high, seems to be having a knock on effect here. | ![]() andy
13/2/2006 17:05 | I feel giddy at this height!!!! Now we will just wait for the opportunist rampers to jump on board. | keithfagan |
