21/1/2013 22:10 | Equity Developments take:- Fairpoint's pre-close statement was more informative than most, not merely confirming that it expected to meet market forecasts (c£7.5m) before exceptionals and amortisation of intangibles but specifying the two major exceptionals - the VAT refund from which they had netted £3m in cash by the year-end, with an unspecified amount yet to come as they work their way through identifying who is entitled to how much refund on each case - and a £0.2m cost of re-arranging a bank facility. Net cash at the year-end of £1.6m excludes the unallocated balance of the VAT refund which can be expected to add more than a £m. Given a decline in the number and average value of IVA cases approved during 2012, this isn't too bad: £3m of the £8m improvement in net cash came from the VAT refund; the other £5m was cash from normal operations. | jeff h

03/1/2013 11:58 | Hanover and Henderson own nearly 50% between them and a few others hold 5 and 6% lots so not a lot of free float around me thinks. Refs holdings on this look a bit odd though . Says Henderson has 18.1% but they RNS'd before Christmas 24.75% . Seems they ignore the CFDs held ? | felix99

02/1/2013 16:51 | Xmas debt reported to be nice and high per news reports. This is just the start of the consumer debt meltdown. Just wait until universal credit comes into force later this year and then rolled out around the country upto 2018. Anyone claiming benefits will have them all bundled into one single payment and paid direct to them, whereas currently thier £500 rent benefit would be paid direct to the landlord, it will be upto the individual to pay this themsleves, the same with C.tax etc etc. Payday lending companys are going to have a field day targeting these consumers who have this what they perceive extra income in their pockets, this in turn will lead to a massive increase in debt levels, IVA's and the like. The debt burden is going to be huge when this kicks in. In fact, the bedroom tax is due to start in April where current HB claimants are expected to make up a shortfall of Housing benefit of 14% if they have One spare bedroom or 25% if having 2 spare rooms. This is going to create a first debt bubble from summer this year. Fairpoint are ideally palced for all the fall out. This will be the growth area of choice over the next 3 - 5 years. | doobster78
02/1/2013 16:31 | Substantial breakout :-) | simon42 |
