26/11/2013 12:08 | It's information like this that I find encouraging about this firm and bodes well for the company's future growth: "Esure Group plc is a UK-focused personal lines insurer founded in 2000 by Peter Wood, the foremost general insurance entrepreneur in the UK and the Company's Chairman. The Group has established a strong platform for growth and a track record of profitability. The Group has achieved this against a backdrop of challenging market conditions through a disciplined and conservative approach to its motor underwriting business, the application of the same philosophy in growing its home underwriting business, and a strong focus on generating revenues from associated activities such as the sale of Additional Insurance Products alongside its core motor and home insurance policies and, more recently, the development of its branded broker services. These associated activities offer higher returns on capital employed and another source of cash generation that, together with the home underwriting business, are part of a diversifica tion strategy aimed at reducing the Group's exposure to the cyclicality of the motor insurance market." | grevis
26/11/2013 09:23 | Isn't JP the house broker? Must admit the more time I spend in the market the less I think of the brokers, although they can affect sentiment. I'd like to see a league table of different brokers and there ratings at the begining of the year and how close they came (not just for the FTSE). Does anyone know if this is available?. | dr biotech

22/11/2013 08:53 | Yep - and a PhD in Analytical Biochemistry. Have to say that has been more of a hindrance than help when it came to investing. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. | dr biotech

21/11/2013 19:16 | Averaging down has delivered mixed results for me. It cost me a fortune on Baltimore technologies, back in the day, but now I'm getting better at it, and it's been great with AML, CLLN and CGL. Not tempted to do so here yet. | thamestrader
21/11/2013 12:21 | I frequently average down if I believe in the share it's always worked well for me. | yam114

21/11/2013 09:48 | I think averaging down is a mugs game. Its something we have all done. Its more about making your position look less bad, rather than any real investment strategy. You should always think "where is the best place to invest" rather than which of my positions is the worst. What sort of bikes are you into BH? I'm a bit of cyclist myself, not the powered kind though... | dr biotech |
