22/3/2021 08:17 | Big news AstraZeneca’s US clinical trial of its Covid-19 vaccine developed with Oxford university has shown 79 per cent efficacy at preventing symptomatic disease and 100 per cent efficacy against severe or critical disease and hospitalisation. A fifth of the participants in the trial were over the age of 65 and the jab showed 80 per cent efficacy in these older participants, the long-awaited results showed on Monday. The AstraZeneca vaccine is currently embroiled in a safety row in Europe, with some countries pausing its rollout after registering a series of rare side events involving a specific type of blood clot. The European regulator, the European Medicines Agency, has said throughout the safety crisis that the vaccine’s benefits far outweigh its risks, but some countries have opted to halt the rollout, pending more data. Crucially, the US trial found the vaccine was well tolerated, AstraZeneca said, and the independent data safety monitoring board identified no safety concerns related to the vaccine. | john09
22/3/2021 07:21 | I gather some at the top want to close it down build lots of houses , seems to make sense short term. | jotoha2
21/3/2021 18:31 | Still no EasyJet flights out of Southend for this summer. I doubt they will now put on any flights and might wait for the skiing season at the end of the year. | lpavlou
20/3/2021 13:31 | Strange share price action last couple of sessions. Big volume on Thursday driving the price up to only being it back down on Friday. Europe seems to have gone back to where uk was at Xmas in terms of Covid, so unlikely there will be many flights out of Southend this summer. Happy to stay on the sideline for now. | lpavlou
19/3/2021 15:49 | The excitement was certainly short lived! France lockdown wont help!! | john09

18/3/2021 21:33 | Best to give the airline away and let someone else take the flack when it fails. Any sale would have to be deferred as why would anyone want to purchase an airline now when there are no flights and even after May, planes will still be empty. Just goes to show what can happen to the share price when even a rumour about a sale gets out | lpavlou
18/3/2021 19:39 | Bulls stand by. 40p target first then 50p. | jimbomorry

18/3/2021 15:39 | Big volume | john09
18/3/2021 12:09 | There's some money in the cargo flights, but they make most of their money from parking, cafes / retail, restaurants and airline fees. Not sure if they are renting any warehouses to Amazon | lpavlou
17/3/2021 21:39 | @pavlou, they could cut their ongoing losses by selling the airline for £1. High risk stock, more so given the recent talk about Gatwick. If freight/cargo was their staple then passenger flights would be a bonus. | casholaa
17/3/2021 21:18 | “High 30s” 🤣 I havent bought this for high 30s | john09
17/3/2021 20:57 | Problem is the airline is going to cost money to shut down or pay someone to take it off their hands. You couldn't pick a worse time to try and sell an airline. However, once this is announced, expect the share price to bounce back to high 30's | lpavlou
17/3/2021 20:53 | The EU will 'okay' the astrazeneca vaccine, I have no doubt about that. They had to assess it due to the evidence which would have had it's roots in the medical field -how else do you think the issue arose. All of these vaccines have been fast-tracked. | casholaa
17/3/2021 18:45 | The unusual ting for me is they seem to bash the Astra Zenecca vaccine and most EU countries have suspended it. The AZ vaccine appears to be going to waste, but they are now bashing AZ for not delivering with talk of stopping our supply. Hopefully some sanity will reign and the EU regulator will give it a full bill of health and they will start using it again, otherwise can we have their supply as we could use it. | red ninja
17/3/2021 16:21 | Funny in a sense but very sad as people will die for want of protection. I have friends in Europe whose vaccinations have been much delayed even those in the most vulnerable group. It is also of course allowing time for fresh more virulent mutations to emerge. One of the problems is that there was poor PR from AZN when they reported a dilutional error in the vaccine (can you believe it?) which supposedly gave better results! It gave rise to questions from the start, probably needlessly so. | mayers |
