I do not consider the Betmgm update as being that positive, having to spend more money trying to maintain market share = less profitability.

The positive Betmgm update yesterday was ill received in the UK but not in the US

Entain is expecting a similar result for the remaining six months, adding that investment in its iGaming business over the second half will be more than first thought.

Entain said the ‘greater than planned marketing investment’ will be funded by bank debt.

So...Entain is going to be increasing it's debt....Can easily see the share price falling into the lower 500ps, maybe a 4 handle at its low point.

For the past year, it seems to be never ending bad news for Entain.

When ever KcKinsey are bought in, its time to run for the hills as all they ever seem to do is to suggest putting in another layer of management which only increases administration costs.

There needs to be an understanding and presentation of what we are getting from all of those random takeovers.

Betmgm will take care of itself and the gaming side is very high margin and they will understand the payback there.

Who is paying angstroms wages and are they being covered by betmgm?

What is happening in Holland and Germany, I was over there for the euros and saw nothing of bwin. I do understand that is regulated but what’s the future?

Debt pay down.

The CFO needs to stand up and be energized not reading off a prompt and lay out clearly where we are and what the future looks like, he has signed off on the large debts we have and where’s the payoff.

Entain has been well and truly McKinseyed through Jettes leadership. Clueless, so she hired McKinsey conultants. They have infiltrated the company and destroyed it. Hopefully the new CEO sees sense and gets rid of the ridiculous number of consultants in top positions with no understanding of the industry. They have destroyed the company, the technology, the mgm jv and the talent that the great GVC had has gone to greener pastures to be replaced with more consultants. it's time this consultant train ride be derailed.

We will benefit one day.

Davius,

"Entain's share price is struggling for direction ahead of any clarity to be provided by the newly appointed CEO."

I would re-phrase, struggling for "upwards" direction

Closing report from II:

Entain fell 8.1% on concerns increased investment in its US joint venture BetMGM, to maintain market share, will hit the bottom line.

"Management is now guiding to a loss of [around] USD246 million as the business invests in growth. In reality, it is investing in trying to restore lost market share, having slipped behind while competitors FanDuel and DraftKings took advantage of better technology in the US," Peel Hunt analyst Ivor Jones commented.

"It was clear from industry data that BetMGM was losing ground, and it is positive to see a clear plan to turn the business around. Investors may, however, be discouraged by the scale of the investment apparently needed. Entain's share price is struggling for direction ahead of any clarity to be provided by the newly appointed CEO."

Not really at all

We own 50% of the Betmgm JV whatever that is worth. No change there.

Someone could try and buy us on the cheap that is true but that hasn't worked so far.

MGM have completely outplayed Entain on this one..Entain and it's future are much more woven into the performance or not of their US JV.MGM are not..their main business is hotels and entertainment..in fact just means half share of Betmgm got cheaper..Entain need to hold their nerve or they will be snapped up at a ridiculous price..

Mgm 1% up

Just the shorters here pushing the price down

We already knew 2024 is an investment year for Betmgm hence the 123m loss. "Exceeding goals for both acquisition and retention, which should lead to higher year-over-year revenue growth for the second half of this year into 2025".

Going way lower imo. Ftse 100 reshuffle first week of September. Entain currently clinging on but for how much longer. Institutions will be bailing out if they're not already..

If the board don't produce a great set of figures ENT could be taken out very cheaply, shareholders nursing some very nasty losses.
