15/7/2004 20:04 | Your theory seems to fit the previous (1997) peak,too. | grgkecer
15/7/2004 19:44 | Apart from a series of very sharp falls, wouldn't you say the price has pretty much followed the market generally? The sharp falls seem to have been triggered by poor results or warnings of them, and taken the market by surprise. | grgkecer
15/7/2004 19:10 | Well here's the monthly light crude chart (you might need to click on this)... ...so, crude topped Sept 00 and EXR around June 01. I THINK the early 03 high was sort of a political "spike", whereas the latest action is the sort of demand driven surge that unlocks the E&P spending taps, hey it's a theory | captain swing
15/7/2004 18:45 | Let's hope you are right, Captain Swing. However, how would your selling criterion have worked in 2001? In fact the oil price peaked in March 2003, a little after Expro's spectacular fall. | grgkecer
15/7/2004 17:32 | I am sure EXR is breaking out from the 12 month triangle. Institutional size trades going through, looks like accumulation. I plan to hold until oil prices top out, and for about 9-10 months after that. This would have given a good result in 96-97, and also 2000-01 | captain swing
07/7/2004 07:11 | Not so long as expected: | grgkecer
02/6/2004 08:23 | Not much to celebrate, but at least the dividend's maintained. It may be a long wait for better news: "We believe that there are initial signs, through our increased tender activity and order book position, that an underlying recovery is underway, although the real impact of this will not be apparent until 2005/06. Against this backdrop, we believe Expro to be well set for progress." | grgkecer
02/6/2004 07:42 | Results are out | captain swing
27/5/2004 12:46 | Sondex are very specialised, but in what they do, I'd say they probably are a market leader. | thamestrader
27/5/2004 09:19 | Sondex not a market leader perhaps but, with its recent acquisition of Geolink, a competitor in downhole technology. | grgkecer
27/5/2004 08:59 | Well I have plunged, feet first as usual... wouldnt surprise me if it was a "sell on the news" day... Pluses for EXR >>High operational gearing >>Right time in the cycle >>Exposure to deepwater E&P >>Chart shows a large triangle over the last year or so, which may be seen as a consolidation pattern Dont know much about Sondex but I sort of picked up it is not really a market leader | captain swing
27/5/2004 08:43 | Captain Swing As a holder of Expro I have been wondering whether Sondex isn't a better investment. The factors that determine whether or not YOU plunge will be of more than passing interest. | grgkecer
27/5/2004 08:12 | It's certainly a big contract. About time we had some good news from EXR. Let's hope they can capitalise on it. | thamestrader
27/5/2004 07:15 | $60 million contract win, might explain the strength y/day! I have had my eye on this, will I take the plunge? | captain swing
18/2/2004 15:38 | Only that there never were any merger talks and that the press have simply sparked speculation for no good reason. | cantab
18/2/2004 14:40 | anyone got any news on any merger talks? | nr_jhotmailcom
08/2/2004 20:00 | Sell at mid price, is significant if the buyer/seller does not want to identify the type of the transaction. Anything below midprice is stamped as sell and above misprice is stamped as buy...However if price goes up at the end of the day then it is good transaction! I am not an exper on these issues. It is just my interpretation. | karateboy
06/2/2004 14:15 | Just SOLD 350 EXR at 306.667p and it has shown up as a BUY. | thamestrader
06/2/2004 12:40 | Agreed Cantab. Can't see HAL or SLB wanting EXR. Baker Hughes perhaps more likely, but I don't think they're in the mood to buy anything just now. EXR ticking up nicely this lunchtime. | thamestrader
06/2/2004 11:53 | There will always be rumours like that circulating, but can't see it myself. It's been an interesting week in volume terms though. The thing that interests me is that almost all the trades are going through at roughly the mid-price, the last real volume trades at either bid or ask being on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Does anyone have any idea what that means? I'm not an expert on trading patterns so I have no idea if significant volume at mid price indicates anything in particular, so if there are any experts out there who can shed any light on it I'd love to know more. | cantab
03/2/2004 08:52 | Today's rumour.... EXPRO INTERNATIONAL (LSE: EXR.L - news) The Guardian reported that shares in oil services firm Expro gained on Monday on speculation of a bid approach. The paper cited dealers as saying likely predators were Schlumberger and Halliburton . | thamestrader
09/1/2004 10:43 | Couple of snippets.... LONDON (AFX) - Expro International Group PLC, which provides products to the oil and gas industry, said it has bought a wireless technology product from Flight Refuelling Ltd, a subsidiary of Cobham PLC for 3.25 mln stg in cash, with a deferred payment of up to 5 mln tied to revenues obtained over a fifteen year period. The acquired business has developed a Cableless Telemetry System, capable of transmitting data electromagnetically from downhole depths in excess of 10,000 feet and is particularly suitable for brownfield applications, the company said. Expro also said it has bought the well tractoring assets and technology of Houston based Smartract Inc, for 1.35 mln usd in cash, with potential deferred consideration of 4 mln tied to revenues obtained over the next thirteen years. The technology is represented by a hydraulically activated tractor system which is used in conjunction with wireline to deploy data gathering and other tooling in horizontal and high deviation wells. bam | thamestrader
30/12/2003 13:35 | Your new years gift look up (it works) | soke
23/12/2003 13:20 | Nice recovery over the last few days. 7.5 more pence and I'll be back in profit. | thamestrader
18/12/2003 20:45 | Correction to above - EXR is not interested in Iraq just now. Not bidding in current round of tenders. | thamestrader |
