08/5/2017 08:19 | Update! "relating to the acquisition of Treasure Beach Hotel in Barbados, all conditions for completion have now been met and the transaction has therefore formally completed". | mortimer7
08/5/2017 08:12 | Doesn't the RNS on 5th May say when there will be a report? | salchow
08/5/2017 07:57 | Has there been an update yet? | mortimer7
02/5/2017 08:38 | No update?"The agreement to acquire Treasure Beach is conditional upon completion of a credit agreement with the Group's bankers, The Bank of Nova Scotia. The condition is expected to be satisfied before the end of April 2017" | lbo
01/5/2017 12:27 | Hotel occupancies drop during first quarter | lbo
07/4/2017 11:58 | But it's ok to try and ramp! Maybe some insiders posting on here are nervous if the company will be able to get a discounted equity fundraising away if they don't pump it up near to the IPO price There's been some trader-ish noise around Elegant Hotels in recent weeks that it might plausibly be a bid target ..... But I note this with extreme health warnings in place. | lbo
07/4/2017 11:48 | Just fllter LBO as I am going to do immediately after this posting. I said weeks ago that he was either a very disgruntled ex-employee or holiday maker. There is no other reason for such obsession unless he has a mental problem. I now have a good buffer above my buying price and unless there are negative announcements from the company which I do not anticipate I hope to hold for a long time. | salchow
07/4/2017 11:26 | Yes it's probably worse. Not only is it worth less then it's most recent IPO price. It's been expanded and repackaged back to the equity market and is basically worth less then it was back in 1997. It cost £46m to buy the four St James Beach PLC hotels in Barbados in 1997, including the Coconut Creek and Crystal Grove back then. Elegant back then had the Tradewinds Hotel in Antigua also since gone and a site in Barbados. Remember this was basically listed before and then taken private and now re-listed again. And every time it comes back to the market its needing to raise more dilutive capital and make more acquisitions to even just to try and standstill. Never mind the high Cap Ex requirements ($28m from 2008 to 2014) Today Elegant operates six hotels and only has a market Cap of £75m which going on the per room valuations for Waves and Treasure Beach is fair value in the market now. The St James Beach Plc shareholders realised it was a bad long term investment. Cabot Square realised it. Vision Capital realised it and now it's up to the AIM market to realise it. | lbo
07/4/2017 10:49 | Elegant Hotels isn't a typical AIM company - in a good way. Typical AIM companies are gas, oil and metal explorers which never make it to production, or perhaps biotech or other tech start-ups, which never produce a saleable product. EHG really belongs on the main market - it has assets, it makes profits, and it pays a dividend. There are a few other companies like this on AIM (SHOE, CARD come to mind), but not many. | bookwormrobert
07/4/2017 10:14 | I must admit LBO, for someone who professes no financial interest in the shares, your continued dedication to talking down the company seems to know no bounds. It's clearly more than just that of a detached observer. | stemis
07/4/2017 09:54 | Meanwhile some technical stuff: 200 day moving average 75.4p, 100DMA 80.6p, 20DMA 83.9p. 13 week low 77p, 13 week high 88p. 1st Resistance point to break thro 88.67p. | mortimer7
07/4/2017 09:44 | I'm so sorry, I don't know the answer to either question. | mortimer7
07/4/2017 09:34 | Sounds like the Bajans cook the tourism stats | lbo
07/4/2017 09:28 | Pity it was not seen in the Elegant Hotels figures. Is Elegant Hotels losing customers to Sandals? I also wonder does "arrivals" include Barbados transit passengers and Cruises who don't stay in Hotels at all. | lbo
07/4/2017 09:21 | "Foster, a veteran in the industry with over three decades of experience, said that in 2016, Barbados continued to smash arrival records"... hxxps://www.barbados | mortimer7
07/4/2017 09:05 | However, with the island facing further decline in tourist arrivals especially out of the UK this year as a result of higher interest rates in the US and a weaker Pound, Grant called on officials of Sandy Lane and others in the industry to employ greater use of technology to keep numbers up and “think outside the box”. He stressed that the industry was “changing in a significant way” including the proliferation of accommodation choices while acknowledging that the traditional way of doing business could no longer be relied on. Grant said the visitor experience should always be top notch as that was even more critical for the industry at this time, even as hoteliers prepare to adjust and adapt to remain competitive. General Manager Randall Wilkie said while the Zika outbreak forced many hoteliers to slash their rates last year, that was not the case for the Sandy Lane. | lbo
07/4/2017 08:49 | Look at chart since August: 40% rise, share price 63p to 88p last night. | mortimer7
06/4/2017 11:08 | Of course, a lot has happened in our accommodation offerings over the last ten years. It was interesting to read in Terra Caribbean's famous The Red Book, according to data provided by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), that between 2011 and 2016 villa occupancy had increased by an average 22 per cent monthly, during this five year period. Then, what only can be described as an explosion in alternative accommodation, notably Airbnb, HomeAway, Flip Key, VRBO, Tripping and the many others has helped transform our overall lodging offerings | lbo
06/4/2017 06:52 | Looking at the turnover, profits and values going back over the years shows the hotels with all the capital investment also needed they have not been good investments. https://www.thecater | lbo
05/4/2017 16:16 | Hey, that article is from 1997 - that's, like, twenty years ago. I think the world has changed a bit since when Bill Clinton was getting impeached. | bookwormrobert
05/4/2017 15:36 | And maybe over the long term Barbados hotels are a bad investment and Mr Morley like many others were delighted to get out when they couldhttp://www.inde | lbo
05/4/2017 15:03 | Maybe they weren't offered... | stemis |
