20/11/2017 17:41 | My weakness surfaced again today, rathkum, and I added another 10k. I must get some counselling for this addiction! | ansc
20/11/2017 15:41 | Well ansc, if this one falls any further and in anticipation of having a January trading update similar to the one earlier this year, I may be hard pressed to restrain my itchy fingers from adding a few more. | rathkum
20/11/2017 12:53 | Hats off to the company for their double award win at the Construction Computing Awards: The awards clearly recognise the business acumen of ELCO. It's a pity more investors haven't done the same. | ansc
18/11/2017 12:52 | Eight top shares that meet Jim Slater's investment rules By Stockopedia and Ben Hobson | Wed, 15th November 2017 - 14:24 Slater's strategy focused on earnings growth, profitability, strong cashflow, low debt and signs of share price strength. It also included what's known as the PEG, or the 'price-earnings growth' factor. The PEG measures whether the promise of growth comes at a reasonable price. It's calculated by dividing the forward price-to-earnings ratio of a share by the estimated future growth rate in earnings per share (EPS). Any share with a PEG over 1 would get short shrift from Slater. A score of 1 receives consideration and anything under 1 is worth a closer look. Here are some of the companies that do currently pass the rules... 08/11/2017 12:06 | a non exec. buys some shares +ve | smithie6
25/9/2017 13:23 | well done ELCO....good results ( based on a 2 minute look) & progress...& investing a lot in improving products etc, which is good.. & solid % growth for various numbers & trading since the end date for these results is reported as good so, based on a quick look the results look good to me ..( the revolving door for FDs ...& other departing dirs....is there a problem ?...who knows...well it hasnt stopped progress in last 2-3 yrs) | smithie6
25/9/2017 13:12 | ...well, turns out that those were indeed shrew buys ! ( & glad I added a few more around 42-43p when it looked ignored by most of the mkt but with some firm buying quietly going on ) price up nicely with results Im looking on my smartphone...difficu | smithie6
14/9/2017 13:08 | and a buy of 9k pnds at 45p assuming the ppl putting thru bigger value trades are shrewd ppl...then its all looking good in recent days | smithie6
12/9/2017 15:25 | delayed reporting of 30k pnds buy at 44p around 10am this morning might be part of the reason for today's rise... | smithie6
12/9/2017 14:47 | buyers have been queuing up today.& a lot of trades have gone thru...& price up a solid 5% has it been tipped somewhere ?? | smithie6
24/8/2017 17:52 | One might question the selection process for an FD. How would Oscar Wilde put it? To loose 1 FD may seem like carelessness, to loose two is highly disturbing. The MM's have taken note and I have grave concerns over Mr. Ketteley despite his legion of followers. I would have sold my two holdings last month if there had been anyone to purchase them at the crazily high price they were shown by the MM's for some strange reason. | lgw500
22/8/2017 13:53 | Imo there was no 6 months probation.. Imo if you hire a qualified experienced FD ...after due diligence.. Then you have to pay the contracted pay off if he leaves, except if gross misconduct. | smithie6
22/8/2017 13:33 | ..."terse announcement" Indeed... 'Suddenly left'... Guesses ? A shouting match with someone higher up ? (MD or chairman) Refusal to bend or adjust the accounts as dictated from above ? Not working hard enough to get the accounts out on time ? Brain ache from handling different currencies etc. (Complicated in some aspects imo) ---- In last 5 years phps 1M quid gone in dir pay offs. imo (Not common for FDs to leave for squabbles imo.....normally they are the king of the accounts...fullstop. | smithie6
22/8/2017 13:25 | Ive posted before about worrying short duration tenancy for directors...except Ketteley... Anyone know the bod.....is there a problem with working with Ketteley ....or is it pure chance that directors stay less than 12 months....time after time after time...? | smithie6
21/8/2017 18:02 | Plus they pay £43k a year to rent an office for the chairman iirc from a company owned by the chairman...and then need to rent another office for him for £5k p.a. in Burnham on crouch so he can be nearer the office🙄 | rhomboid
21/8/2017 17:21 | I suspect his probationary period was 6 months. ELCO seem to have a revolving door policy for the role of Finance Director. It's a bit like the hot seat on 'have I got news for you'. Not seen anything like it before. Growth looks pretty decent, but this is a bit of a red flag for me I'm afraid. GLA | quant_investor
21/8/2017 13:06 | Surprised nobody has commented on what seems the rather sudden departure of the Group Finance Director after only six months. No reasons given in what seems a slightly terse announcement. | b1ggles
01/6/2017 12:38 | Galliford Try + Asta Powerproject = Birmingham Conservatoire [read full case study] I'm still baffled as to why Mingy Machs seem so determined to keep the share price up even in the face of some chunky 'sells'. | ansc
30/5/2017 18:02 | Relentless climb still............. | kemche
30/5/2017 16:23 | ..ansc.. maybe the 2-3p rise today wipes out your scrip issues ;-) ----- Surprising the jump on tiny volume at end of the day...a 1p rise I was expecting since buys have kept going thru. but seemed to be getting filled without any problem... perhaps the MM has filled a sell order (2 big trades shown) and doesnt have another block to sell... | smithie6
26/5/2017 11:15 | Thanks, Steve, if they are increasing their charges that effectively rules them out. | ansc |
