Paul Scott's view :

Director greed - CEO's remuneration over the years has been grotesque. Therefore Placings have been done to effectively finance her lavish lifestyle. That makes the shares uninvestable, as this is a historically loss-making, and tiny company. This company is clearly run for the benefit of its CEO, and not shareholders overall, in my view.

More controversy at EGS. Last week on Share Radio, David Fredder said that they have never been profitable. Today, after what appeared to be lawyer's letters, Share Radio was forced to put out an apology, which among other things said " EGS has been profitable in recent years". First, I do not call ten years accumulated operating losses of £2.1m a profitable company, even if strictly David was wrong as there have been some profitable years.

What I have issue with is the claim that it has been profitable "in recent years". It has lost money in two out of the last three years, losing a total combined of almost £1.5m. Now that is not profitable. But worse, they made lots of profit in 1H 2014/15 ( y/e Jan 31) BUT lost money in 2H. And they have reported losses in 1H 2015/16. So, it has lost money in the last rolling year ( in laymans terms "the most recent year").

So how can the Chairman claim it has been profitable in recent years ???????

And congratulations to investors champion for highlighting this. A pity it was not picked up on more widely at the time as was brilliant analysis of greed !

I have seen her present a few times and thought she has an inflated sense of her own importance. Her response above may well be her Gerald Ratner moment. Incidentally she mentioned her ambition of making EGS a 100 million pound company when the MCAP was about £16.5m. Now it is £15 million so she must be using reverse psychology. She has a neck like a jockey clearly!

excellent presentation at the shard tonight of the two new apps. any company using them will save time and increase their efficiency. in fact eg guarantees them to save money by using their products.
they cant lose no gain no fee !
the obvious advantage in the example they showed ( an insurance claim) was that the end customer was kept informed of the progress throughout the process. there is nothing more annoying than having an insurance claim and having to chase everyone up all the time.
with their app photos were taken, details uploaded at the time, each person involved in the claim was updated and as each process was completed the claimant was informed. as their clients start using the app their competitors will see the advantages of the system and will also want to use it.
if somebody wants to improve their back office functions and cut costs eg has the answer. investor champion should have attended the presentation to see the new products as he would have been able to see what is on offer.

Video interview with CEO Gooch

Elizabeth Gooch, chief executive of eg solutions (LON:EGS), discusses the reasons behind the improved performance from the back office software specialist.

The company expects to break even in its current financial year after recent investment in sales and marketing.

Meanwhile, two new products - eg forecasting and eg mobile – look set to push the firm towards profitability in the medium-term.

Video interview with CEO Elizabeth Gooch

Elizabeth Gooch, the chief executive of eg solutions (LON:EGS), says the group is keen to close more business in new sectors and new territories following a strong set of full-year figures from the back office software optimisation company.
The group’s share price rose today after it swung to a profit thanks to a 69% rise in revenues.
Gooch says that was a result of the company capitalising on the investments made in 2013 and flags up ‘many more contracts in the pipeline’.

Commentary from Megabyte.

Subscribers will know that we have been critical of eg’s poor long term financial track record, but there is no taking away from the quality of these figures. For us, perhaps a more important element is the fact that the company has landed customers in multiple verticals, which substantially opens up the addressable market.

But before we get too carried away, we have seen many small software companies have what look like break-out years, only to see all of the company’s resources diverted into implementation and account management, leading to a return to low growth. So, eg will need to work hard and continue to invest in sales & marketing to ensure maintained momentum.

Against this backdrop, eg’s share price performance and valuation is perhaps surprising. While the shares have recovered from their March 2014 lows, they are still well below their 2013 highs, despite much stronger financials and balance sheet. Indeed, with the fundraising cash all still sitting on the balance sheet, eg’s enterprise value is little changed from a year ago at £10m. Perhaps institutional investors are just taking a cautious view until eg can prove that last year was the start of summer rather than just a single swallow.

At the interims in September the order book was £13m. Now £15m. Recurring revenues up 69% yoy and now 50% of total. This is turning into a very good story.
