The big question for me is..

Chile - Maize production quantity

In 2020, maize production for Chile was 685 thousand tonnes. Though Chile maize production fluctuated substantially in recent years, it tended to increase through 1971 - 2020 period ending at 685 thousand tonnes in 2020.

Well AttyG, some may wish them harm, but that's futile as there is nothing they can do, just jabber away on a BB with whatever they are saying. No idea here as they're filtered and I really don't care.

I think Eden is about to become a remarkable company and that should be all the more visible by Q1 2024, don't you think? When more people become aware of Eden and have a good understanding of Eden, I'm sure it will all be very exciting. It will also be interesting to see if the press truly get's a behind a British company.

In my view, Eden is a truly remarkable company, with a strong likelihood of significant commercial success.
A great British company unfolding before our eyes, yet some only wish them harm.

Some 1.27 million hectares in France were devoted to maize production - a lot of trials were conducted in France.


EU maize yields slashed again


Continued hot and dry conditions across the EU, has led to yield outlooks for 2022/23 summer crops being cut further by the European Commission (EC) in its latest crop monitoring report (MARS) released yesterday. Grain maize yields for the bloc are now forecasted at 6.63t/ha, down 9% from July’s estimate and 16% lower than the five-year average.

In their cereals supply and demand estimates, released at the end of July, the EC have maize production for the bloc pegged at 65.83Mt for 2022/23. This is based off a yield of 7.22t/ha and a planted area of 9.12Mha. However, if we take the latest maize yield forecast from the MARS report and apply it to the EC’s area, EU maize production would be 60.45Mt. This is over 5Mt lower than what is currently forecast. If realised, this would be the lowest EU maize output since 2015.

Hmm, 9.12 million hectares in the EU. Naturally that excludes the UK.


I guess we will have lots of ecovelex going out to wholesalers now - even more in January and February 2024. Then of course we can look forward to a normal sales pattern in the Autumn of 2024.

Eden Research is another innovative UK firm whose shares have motored in recent months, rising 60 per cent to 5.85p since Midas recommended them this summer.

The performance reflects a step-change in this business, which makes pesticides that help crops to grow without harming the environment.

This market is expected to be worth almost £8 billion by 2025, amid increasing concern about the impact of chemical insecticides on consumer health.

Eden works with some of the giants in the industry and only last week announced new approvals for a seed protection product developed with Corteva, one of the largest agricultural firms in the world.

More good news is expected in 2024 and Eden shares should respond.
