My 2020 date was mentioned as a date when they will hopefully all be selling the tech.. Obviously Sipcam etal are selling it now and I'm assuming TT will be selling into Supermarkets this year. We may see Bayers product this year unless we are informed otherwise. That leaves Eastman to complete it's process by 2020.

That's just the things we know about so far that does not include some unknowns like Sipcam post Harvest Apple treatment and other encapsulation opportunities that may come from the collaboration.

I'm also going to throw in a wild card guess that the Action-pin /Sumiagro hook up may offer other opportunities that we are yet to be informed of.

Well they might all be selling Eden product that is naturally derived, but they won't necessarily be selling tech per se.

My view of tech Eden has to offer is Eden's ability to sell co-encapsulation as a stand-alone enabling companies to use the same for their own product range. Unless I misunderstood this at the AGM, it was stated that this is a while away. Even when it is ready, I suspect trials etc, will take a while before contracts are signed. Are we not working on co-encapsulation V2? I'm sure I saw that in one of Eden's Powerpoint presentations.

Currently Eden's naturally derived active ingredients are encapsulated for slow and smart release and I understand that this too has to be approved in the regulatory process separate of the active ingredients mix, but of course, essential to delivering to market a complete product.

Given your 2020 date above, investors will not know the financial success of the same until circa March 2021 when full year results will be disclosed. Thus we are three years away from this picture being seen in the early infancy of Eastman's contributing and possibly a few others. I would reasonably suggest that that is too long for most PI's who make up the greater percentage of the share register to simply have an RNS information feed of interims, annuals and possibly a trading update to maintain interest.

In this timeframe anything could happen to global markets. Even with the recent correction from the US, markets have been flying on Trump's corporate optimism. Eden's share price has not been flying with any optimism.

So full circle; I would suggest that between now and early 2021 is too long to maintain a wall of silence (I assume so as that is the way it has been) and that Eden should learn and understand that they have to paint a picture, set some expectation, enthuse one and all and enable reasonable optimism to flourish. The markets would not be where they are, but for Trump banging both the corporate and US drum and then delivering his Corporate tax cuts and de-regulation. Do note that markets were flourishing on his promise of better things to come, before he delivered them

Eden could and in my opinion, should now take a similar path towards shareholders and investors alike IF THEY HAVE FAITH in what they are doing over the timescales you suggest. This would have Eden positioned as a stand-out investment and then they could deliver in the future (this year and beyond), just as Trump has done on some of the promises he delivered that has enabled the market to accelerate and apparently, not be over-priced.

So what he did was to in-still belief. What our share price needs is for Eden to in-still belief.

As you may have anticipated I disagree with your statement. By 2020 Bayer/Terpene Tech/Sipcam/ Eastman will all be selling Eden related Tech into a market sector that is demonstrating strong growth by displacing green revolution tech.

The main reason being that the Tech the Green revolution ushered in is losing efficacy combined with a growing awareness of the damage pesticides do to Man,bee,beast and Nematode as well as the ecological apocalypse left in it's wake.. aka Make Earth Mars Again.

The free lunch the Green revolution promised is dead and only products that work with nature will succeed and much sooner than you suggest imo.

What do you think will be the outcome of the EU pesticides survey will be on public opinion. ?

Launch of the "Adaptation of agriculture to environmental challenges" working group



Thursday, February 8, 2018 was held at France Stratégie the first meeting of the working group "Adaptation of agriculture to environmental challenges". Objective: to define the concrete visions of a desirable agriculture by 2040-2050.
Agriculture is at the heart of the challenges of the ecological transition and current thinking on the transformation of the productive system in the face of environmental challenges. Topics on which France Stratégie is fully mobilized.
Major challenges
All the world's economic players face the challenge of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, with a carbon neutrality target set for 2050. The agricultural world has a special role to play, as well as in terms of reducing diffuse pollution or re-coupling of livestock activities and crops.
French agriculture is at the heart of many environmental issues, particularly in terms of preservation and restoration of biodiversity in agro-ecosystems. It is also faced with the imperative of reducing the use of pesticides. All these developments must be part of a logic of food sovereignty to which the goal of reconquest of protein autonomy is attached.

In this context, a working group has just been set up. It aims to define concrete visions of a desirable 2040-2050 agriculture that fully responds to environmental challenges. Prospective visions will have to take into account issues of food security, as well as the main trends in diets already observed at the global level. Consequences may be drawn in terms of food system transformation, employment and territorial cohesion.
This group, whose meetings will be held at France Stratégie, brings together experts from public institutions, advisory bodies and ministries: Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, Ademe , AgroParisTech, Basic, IDDRI, INRA, Livestock Institute, Montpellier Sup Agro and Solagro.
His conclusions are expected in the fall.

Even if we had Bill Gates money Eden would argue they do not have sufficient personnel to expedite development in line with any such donation/investment. That said, it would of course be nice to see Bill Gates name attached to Eden, but a far fetched dream I imagine. With our Chairman also having a non-exec role at Genus Plc, perhaps he has wider circles that might mean contact with such people.

Your posts are excellent, but I for one am focused on today and this year and so should the BoD be in regards to shareholders. Much of what you post indicates the future of agro-chemicals and whilst indicative of what might be, it is unlikely to affect any of us invested here unless we are staying here for another 10 years +.

Eden has a regulatory framework, wherever it goes and in which to deal. The changes in regulation and consumerism that your articles often refer to are big political issues as well as regulatory and I can only see them taking a long time and way beyond our own investment timescales.

Eden's job having developed arguably better products is to sell them en mass and profitably. That is what they would likely argue and therefore that is what they need to do. Some might also say the investment community is looking to this solid indicator before jumping in.

I of course, would have a slightly different take on this.

I watched BBC's 'Countryfile' program yesterday evening. One of the interviewees said how highly he rated British research in agriculture and that his charitable foundation had given $1bn. to numerous British research projects in the field'
He went by the name of Gates.....Bill Gates. Maybe we should give him Eden's number.

ECOLOGY - Germany's goal that 20 percent of the agricultural area will be ecological in 2030 is not unrealistic, but quite ambitious, says Kirsten Lund Jensen.




The new German government has set a target that 20 percent of Germany's agricultural area by 2030 should be organic. It writes the Agricultural Newspaper.
According to the latest figures from 2016, 7.5 per cent of the German agricultural area is organic, so in the next 12 years the existing area is tripled.
Not unrealistic
"It's not an unrealistic goal, but it's a rather ambitious goal. It's a massive growth they must have in the coming years, says Kirsten Lund Jensen, it's ecologist in Agriculture & Food for the newspaper.
- It requires that there is a market for it and the right circumstances. Among other things, a subsidy scheme that makes it easy to restructure, Kirsten Lund Jensen considers.
Today, German farmers who convert to ecology get 2,400 kroner per hectare per year for a period of two years. It is twice as much as Danish farmers receive.
"But the crucial thing is a question about the market - are they good at selling it, and there is enough willingness to pay for consumers," says Kirsten Lund Jensen.
