No me neither.. but sounds like an intensive process with orchards being sprayed up to 12x per season...
and described as 'economically important' and many articles describing fungicide resistance issues...so very big market IMO.

World apple crop forcasts ..
......................................................

Apple scab, caused by the fungal pathogen Venturia inaequalis, is one of the most economically important diseases of apple in the United States and other temperate climate production regions worldwide. In the absence of durable host resistance, applications of fungicides made throughout the growing season at weekly intervals have been the foundation of apple scab management for the past 70 years. In this regard, apple producers continually seek to reduce the number of fungicide applications and improve the timing of applications by capitalizing on postinfection activity. As older broad-spectrum fungicides with postinfection activity were taken off from the market due to health concerns in the 1960s, only the “modern” single-site fungicides introduced in the later part of the twentieth and beginning of the twenty-first centuries could offer postinfection activity. Unfortunately, the introduction of new single-site fungicide classes in the United States occurred in a slow successive manner and led to the unfortunate practice of overreliance and development of fungicide resistance in many of the fungicide classes effective for the management of apple scab.

Can you find any numbers on the amount spent in $ per annum, worldwide, to prevent or offset apple scab.

What is the global $ value of the apple market and what percentage of that $ value is lost annually to apple scab?

I cannot find these figures in my own searches.

Apple scab is the most economically important disease of apples worldwide.

'Biological control product against apple scab is just a matter of time
Published on
November 17, 2014
Apple scab caused by the fungus Venturia inaequalis is economically the most destructive disease in apple production worldwide. Apple scab control requires multiple applications of fungicides during spring and summer. A potential biological control agent – H39, based on a particular strain of the fungus Cladosporium – has been tested in several European field trials during the last two years. H39 appeared to very successfully reduce apple scab in leaves and fruits. The same control levels could be reached as with common fungicide spray application schedules. A biological control company is currently evaluating the possible commercial use of the H39 antagonist. An important step which might lead to reduction of the dependency on chemical fungicides in the near future'
.........................

Growers have kept the disease under control for decades by spraying trees with pesticides. Now, researchers say the chemicals may be losing their effectiveness as apple scab becomes ever more resistant, worsening the threat of outbreaks in commercial orchards.
"We've dealt with fungicide resistance over the years, but this time we're losing three or four different classes of completely unrelated fungicides at the same time," said Henry Ngugi, a plant pathologist with Penn State University's Fruit Research and Extension Center. "We have to literally go back to the drawing board."
..........................................................

Sipcam assess tech then take 10% strategic stake in EDEN..I think they liked it!

"The new agreement will allow Sipcam to conduct field trials on two new Eden products for the treatment of powdery mildew, which affects flowers and fruit, and apple scab during the course of 2015. These products are also based upon combinations of Eden’s EU approved terpenes and its patented micro-encapsulation technology, GO-E. It is anticipated that Sipcam will expand its evaluations in 2016 and potentially begin the product registration process under a new licence from Eden should the trials prove to be conclusive during the course of 2015".

Thanks. You deserve to be rewarded for your perseverance, and I really hope this comes through, as it's a thoroughly worthwhile business in terms of its environmental impact. It reminds me in so many ways of RED, where I am clinging to a holding, and constantly wondering if I should buy more. Historically, 7-8p range have been buying opportunities, with the very reasonable target of 12-14p on the upswing. Trouble is, there seems little sign of any trend, and rapid rises are always followed by equal and opposite declines. Keep up the good work, and I may take a small stake in the NY.

Brucie5,
Interesting, any chance you can pinpoint it on Iplayer ?
---------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately not. It sounded so serious, that I assumed it would be easily googlable, but perhaps that just a sign of the times! Too many threats! I'm sure we'll hear more in due course.

Though not holding any of these atm, looks to me like we're at the bottom of a range. What catalysts are you look towards now, may I ask?

Supersonico, R4 news today carried a chilling story about a plant based pathogen that was creating havoc in Europe. UK shoppers being encouraged to buy homegrown shrubs and plants. Can't see it on the online news, but noticed that it was also afflicting vines on the continent. Don't think they used the word Botrytis, so wondering if you knew anything further?

supersonico,

You want some of Sipcam's relevant and English speaking people on film with Eden when Eden (if it does) tells its story. When they get up-to-date and introduce Sipcam, it would help to carry a very powerful buying message to the wider investment community.

We delve into the interview with Giovanni Affaba, our CEO, the key issues of agriculture in Italy for the past year and the wishes for 2018.

Eden Strategic Investment get a mention in the interview.@5.20m ish
...........................................

He Said this on the announcement so it's along the same lines;

Giovanni Affaba, Chief Executive Officer of Sipcam-Oxon Group, said: “We have had significant experience with Eden’s products in Italy and Spain beginning in 2016 and resulting in the first product commercialisation in 2016. We recognized immediately the efficacy of the products on key targets and also the innovative technology Eden has developed. The potential of a joint effort focussed on developing new solutions and exploiting new markets became evident when Sipcam-Oxon and Eden put together their know-how and capabilities. The broad collaboration we have agreed upon is a cornerstone for developing and commercialising new and innovative products in the market in the next years.”

I think these points are so valid and not beyond the bounds of a normal company , come on Eden show you think about the bottom line as to why we all are invested here - to make money through a great product.. ie share price, not to just pay your wages year in year out with jam tomorrow promises.Start communicating and keeping us updated with progress and numbers etc

Investing,

Agree ..good list

Would also like to know how the Post Harvest applications are progressing.

Re point 6.. On TT progress I would also like to hear more from the horses mouth than from the Farm gate gossip.

The ENRT approach to info sharing via MW bb is unprofessional and should cease IMO.

What I'd like to see in January 2018

1) Announcement of the Bayer deal
2) The new Chairman making a bold and in-line statement about the immediate value of Eden and the value proposition for the next 6 months (without of course, giving investment advice which he is easily able to do)
3) A reasonable investment in the shares from the new Chairman and ideally from the CEO. To be fair, the FD has bought stock
4) A positive, expansive and detailed trading update with clarity on numbers and values
5) Confirmation from the Company that they are to finally execute an investor communications programme and when the first event can be expected by shareholders (Again, ideally January)
6) A valid update and timeline for Terpene Tech to go live (kept separate from the trading update so as to give it focus and greater importance and clarity)
7) A valid update and timeline for sales of 3AEY in Australia (could be in the trading update)
8) A contributory update from Sipcam as a strategic investor on their in-field success and what developments and actions have occurred and been executed since they took their stake in Eden and announced at the same time as the collaboration arrangement. Again, keep this separate from the trading announcement to give it weight, value and focus.

All of this should be easily achievable (save 1) which may be outside Eden's control) as they are not time sapping.

Happy Christmas and happy holidays to all of those in Eden expecting a better 2018 share price performance.

Another day when it appears that the seller wants a minimum of 8p for his shares (must be easily pleased if he accepts a 6.6% profit). It would be nice if this was an end of year bookkeeping type exercise that doesn't carry on into next year.

What I'd like to see in the first four months of 2018:

1. Head lice treatment the shelves.
2. Lykele van der Broek buying a million shares.
3. Bayer animal health products on the shelves.
4. Photos of multiple lorry loads of 3AEY being despatched.

If Eden was a day of creation, its share price would surely be a Sunday (one of perpetual rest)hxxps://www.gotquestions.org/creation-days.html

Now the share price is rising which indicates an excess of demand over supply .

Someone with deep pockets has obviously cottoned on.. a light in the sky..an epiphany.. or research perhaps

They're still convinced Eden has great potential.
