Indeed rolandormrod; ECK is a lovely defensive share when the market is tanking and really holds its own.

Malinkie, thanks for the article, very useful! Not one for calculations like EBITDA, PEG's and PE's myself, although don't doubt they are useful. Some stocks imo don't 'stack up' on fundamentals although the share price keeps growing if it is a quality company that keeps delivering because these are a rarity in the market. Hence sometimes you pay a premium for a premium company. Take TEP or ACSO for example. Both very highly rated on profit to mcap, but they keep going from strength to strength. If you had resisted buying over the years because they were 'too expensive', you would have been much much poorer as a result! That's why I'm quite confident ECK will over time at least double even at today's price as more contracts are won, profits go up, the mcap gets bigger, more funds buy in, its profile increases and its quality gains more recognition. All IMHO. Regards.

Any comments on this guy's view of the P/E ratio? Albeit 2 months old, we are at the same share price price as when it was written and the announcement of 3 new contracts has happened since....

Same here sagarn. It's been a really good ride here since i bought in november with my initial stake. My favourite thing about ECK is that it's held its value very well even in volatile days/weeks. I'm totally expecting a bullish trading update.

Another top up for me. With the trading update due in a few weeks, hoping for another rise in line with the positive up trend. Potential too good to ignore here; contract wins/renewals are plentiful and still a good chance of a bid imo. Very regular positive news flow from the company will keep pushing this higher and higher. Happy holder!

Should see 50p by July, imo.

But we have results due before that so could be more.

If you have a spouse he or she can buy shares in the company you sold.

So what you do is you sell the investment to realise the capital gain – taking into account your annual allowance and then your partner repurchases the same assets in their own trading account.

This way you keep the assets in the family, but you've defused the gain.

Good thought - although I believe you cannot buy back in for a month without losing the benefit

Tax year end approaching. Some investors will realise their capital gains up to their tax free allowance for 2013/14 and then will get back in. Long term ECK is worth considerably more than 39p

Correction - hold the 39p line.

I'm not really too worried about the short term fluctuations as I'm expecting an extremely bullish annual results statement and outlook. What I always worry about is when the wider market starts to tank but ECK seems to hold up very well. Happy days

We need to hold the 40p line here. There seems to be a good deal of selling today - short termers! Come June, the financial figs will be out displaying a rosy future. With the potential for Yanks nibbling at the hook, many will regret their short termism - hopefully.

Entered these as a tentative dabble about 5 years ago. The technology looked to have interesting possibilities but the company struggled to make any real progress for the next three years. However, I stuck with them (often I am tooooo patient!) and thought by mid 2012 that a breakout looked possible, even probable, so quadrupled my modest stake. Since then, the company has not disappointed, in fact has 3-bagged my original input and continues to look promising.

The USA aspect could, as pointed out above, become very large if they manage to play it right - but also sometimes a danger area for UK companies so I will watch that aspect carefully.

Overall, very content to let profits run in this one until it either stalls or (with luck) becomes seriously overweight. [Edit: It would need to at least 3-bag again before we got there!]

Topped up with some more of these for my ISA. My earlier holding was from Intelliplus days. Think I bought £100 worth back then as a punt. Doubled that now!

I'd imagine it'll drift down to 40p once this rise is done. Exited to see the trading statement

The best thing in the latest RNS was

'As we move into the new financial year our sales pipeline remains at an excellent level and we are also seeing a significant upturn in interest from overseas, particularly the US where we are already looking to expand our initial Veritape product offering."

The piece about the USA is very exciting. Retail market at least 10 times bigger than the Uk

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of yet another contract win very soon and even without such an announcement, IMO this only requires further supportive comment, reflecting currently what has been already achieved from the likes of Midas etc. to set ECK off flying yet again.

When the Septic Tanks realise they need more security, Eckoh is gonna soar and may even be swooped upon by a Septic company who want to steal a march on the competition. Good for a squid!
